World of Warcraft Classic Cataclysm
Release Info & Dates
To all of the potential WoW players and upcoming WoW players on this platform, there are only 3 days left until the pre-patch release of WoW Classic Cataclysm!!! This expansion is super hyped up for us WoW Classic players as it is the next major step up expansion with revamped zones, new classes, revamped talents, raised level caps and more!
The date for this is April 30 (April 31 for Oceania and other nearby regions) for the pre patch expansion, while the full expansion will be coming out May 20 (May 21 for Oceania and other nearby regions).
Why is it so exciting?
To put into perspective of timelines for release dates:
WoW Classic Vanilla - August 2019
Wow Classic The Burning Crusade - June 2021
WoW Classic Wrath of the Lich King - September 2022
WoW Classic Cataclysm - April/May 2024
As you can see, it's been a few months short of 2 years since the last major expansion came out. Yes, the Wrath of the Lich King expansion was quite big with many phases that had their releases stagnated, but for the hungry classic gamers, nearly 2 years will be quite a long time for not seeing much game change or progression.
Some examples of what current/future Classic players can expect to see from this new expansion are things like:
- Level cap raised from 80 to 85
- New Dungeons/Raids
- Two new races (Worgen and Goblin)
- New class combinations to go with the new races (As not all classes are possible on certain races)
- Revamped Talent trees (Think of these as passive points) for all classes!!
- Transformed zones (The current main two continents for Vanilla WoW Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor will now be revamped into new zones for the expansion whilst still retaining the 1-60 levelling zones)
- New Tiers of gear/equipment
- New achievements to hunt
- New mounts and collectibles
These are just some of the features off the top of my head for what we can expect to see!
Former/Returning players
For those that used to play in any of the WoW classic expansions or even Classic Vanilla WoW should definitely consider coming back for this and it is a very hyped up and anticipated expansion with a lot of changes to look forward to. This is especially the case for players who have never played Retail WoW (Essentially WoW in the modern version of the game) as this will be completely fresh new content.
New players
For those who have never played World of Warcraft before of any sort, I highly recommend downloading the game in general. It is a subscription based game but there's honestly so much to offer especially if you like the simpler times of MMORPGs. Starting up fresh at the start of an expansion release is always cool however new players will be behind level wise for the expansion but not necessarily equipment wise as the gear you can obtain from simply questing from 80-85 will generally outweigh most gear that players would spend weeks or months grinding for in the previous expansion pack.
This game may not be for everyone but I sure am hyped!! See you all in the land of Azeroth =)
