A Typical Sunday with the Sunday Exercise Fun and Fitness Group

Today started like many others: with the beep of my alarm clock at 7 a.m., nudging me out of bed. After a quick freshen-up, I was off to the stadium to meet my friends from the Sunday Exercise Fun and Fitness Group. For the past six years, we've shared this Sunday ritual, growing from a modest group of seven or eight people to a lively crowd of about 18 to 20 fitness enthusiasts each week.

Our activities vary depending on each person’s fitness level. Some of us walk or run anywhere from six to fifteen laps around the stadium. https://g.co/kgs/EYXwK8Q
After our exercise, we gather to discuss the week’s happenings. It’s always fun listening to individual stories and seeing how people relate to trending news, both locally and globally.

This Sunday was particularly special as one of our active members shared a report on a brave campaign we were involved in last year. It was exciting to see that our small group had made a significant impact in the brave community. He also invited us to register for the upcoming Bitcoin Pizza Day event slated for Wednesday, sharing what to expect from the event.

By 11 a.m., we headed to our usual breakfast spot, the Akara Cafe. Known for its blend of continental and local breakfast, it’s an indigenous fast food joint with branches in Wuse Zone 5 and Gwarimpa. With the Zone 5 location under renovation, we decided to try out the Gwarimpa branch this Sunday. As always, the food and ambiance were splendid, reflecting the cafe’s motto, "The Great Nigerian Spirit." Akara Cafe is a subsidiary of "Beanbag" which was established in 2015, a company dedicated to stimulating the economy with local content.

During breakfast, one of our members shared details about his upcoming wedding, including the color scheme for the attire. This sparked a lively discussion, with married and unmarried members exchanging views and bantering, as is our tradition. I particularly appreciate Akara Cafe's ecological practices, like separating their waste into categories, which is one of the reasons I love patronizing them.

Around 1 p.m., we wrapped up our gathering. I and two friends proceeded to one of their homes to finalize some unfinished business. His wife welcomed us with food, a lovely gesture of Nigerian hospitality, though I opted for a takeout as I was already full.

By 2 p.m., I was on my way home with a friend, during which I mentioned my missing bank card. Thankfully, we quickly resolved this at the bank in Wuse, where I got a new card self printed within minutes.

Back home by 2:21 p.m., we headed to my backyard to check on my ram farm. We discussed the new feed made from silage of groundnut leaves, though it was too early to determine its effectiveness.

We then decided to watch the replay of the unification bout between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. It was exciting to see Usyk’s deserving win, especially amid the ongoing war in his homeland of Ukraine. We also speculated about the upcoming rematch, as per their contracts.

My friend left around 4 p.m., and I used the quiet time to get a head start on work for Monday. Dinner was a simple affair, with the takeout I had from earlier, microwaved and enjoyed in the comfort of my home.

Thank you for joining me on this typical, yet wonderfully engaging Sunday. Looking forward to your Sunday recap story at the comment tab.

Thank you once again.
