God is the Greatest.
In the middle of nowhere, only God believed in us.
The chorus of the song “God did” filled my eyes with tears of gratitude way back when the song was new. Maybe in a bid to promote the song, just the chorus came out way before the official release of the song, and the album.
“They didn’t believe in us, God did”
The chorus came out at a time when things happened according to the chorus. We were lost and forgotten, we were disbelieved in, we were never counted, we were never recognized.
See, e get how some people no go send you not because you are empty, but because they don write you off.
Look at it from the political “emi lo kan” part of things. Some people will not even f##k with you because they believe that you will not amount to anything tangible later on. I call it the political “emi lo kan” part of things because there are many people who will tolerate you, keep you and contribute to you because they believe or hope that you will amount to something later on, and you will return their favours; believe this or not, na so things be. But then, some people no even believe we get that kain hope.
So, when the “God did” chorus came out, I was in the middle of nowhere. I had put up a good fight and was almost jamming rock when a light shone on me and I rose up like a phoenix from the ashes. Out of nowhere, real people like Uncle Moses came with the change. Boi got profitably busy. Little by little, bit by bit, we got some ground, on our own feet. And we survived the seasons.
Now, here we are. Déjà vu everywhere. People we do not write off has written us off and are very pronounced about it. Na una vision dey blur no be us no get future. The bulk of the matter will always remain “God believe in us”. And when the time comes, we will look up to God and say “God Almighty Did!”
The cycle continues, we will not give up. We will keep keeping it up and staying up till we hit it again.
Bless up to those that follow God believe in us. God did!!!!
