Methods to relieve toothache pain
Toothache can lead to inability to eat, sleep, weakened immune function, imbalances in various functions of the body, and complications follow one after another, which brings damage to the body and life. Therefore, learn these four methods to cure the toothache at home.
According to the current stomatology research and big data statistics, the main causes of toothache can be roughly divided into the following four types.
1. Tooth sensitivity
Tooth hypersensitivity, the scientific name, is a common clinical symptom in various dental diseases. At present, there are still controversies about the pathogenesis of pain caused by dentin exposure in clinical practice. The main clinical manifestation of tooth sensitivity is excessive sensitivity to external stimuli, resulting in soreness, and the pain is rapid and short-lived. Especially receiving mechanical stimulation, such as chewing hard objects. It often occurs in tooth wear, wedge-shaped defects, periodontal atrophy and so on.
2. Dental caries
Dental caries can occur in any tooth at any time. After the deciduous teeth germinated, dental caries appeared quietly. Some physiological or pathological factors cause the hard tissue of the tooth to be destroyed. The mineralized hard tissues of the tooth include enamel, cementum, and dentin . Its physiological significance is to withstand the pressure brought by chewing and protect the internal pulp tissue.
The patient has no pain in the initial stage and can only see light brown plaque on the surface of the crown. As the decay progresses, cavities are formed, the nerves in the dental pulp are exposed, and external stimuli directly contact the dental nerves, and you can immediately feel the sharp and unbearable pain.
3. Periodontitis
Inflammation invades the periodontal tissues such as alveolar bone and periodontal ligament, which is called periodontitis. Bacteria invading the periodontal supporting tissues often cause gums to swell and hemorrhage, and then ulcers and purulent periodontal pockets will appear, which will eventually lead to loose teeth and affect the occlusal relationship.
4. Pulpitis
It is caused by tooth decay, formation of cavities, and exposure of dental pulp. Pulpitis can be divided into acute and chronic: acute serous and suppurative pulpitis, chronic atresia, ulcerative, proliferative pulpitis.
The most important pathogenic factor is bacterial infection. The exposure of the dental pulp cavity causes the dental pulp to communicate with the outside world, and peripheral bacteria invade the dental pulp tissue, resulting in dental pulp infection. Inflammation occurs in the dental pulp, blood vessels dilate, blood fills, inflammation and purulent substances cannot be drained, resulting in increased pulp pressure and severe pain.
Then, when it is inconvenient to seek medical treatment and the pain is unbearable, these four methods can also be used at home to quickly relieve the pain and achieve temporary relief.
1. Mouth warm salt water
Take a small amount of table salt into warm water, hold it in your mouth for more than one minute, spit it out again, and repeat it two to three times. When the concentration of saline is greater than the concentration of cell fluid, the osmotic pressure of the external environment increases, and the bacteria cannot resist the hypertonic environment and become dehydrated and inactivated. So as to achieve the effect of killing periodontal bacteria, you can relieve pain in a few minutes.
2. Apply alcohol around the ears
Take the alcohol swab and apply it to the masseter muscle behind the ear. You can also apply it to the lymphatic area of the mandible. Repeat two to three times. Alcohol can quickly vaporize and absorb a lot of heat, so that the surrounding quickly cools down, achieving the effect of ice compress. Compared with ice pack alcohol, it is less irritating and less prone to frostbite. Alcohol can also relax blood vessels, reduce intravascular pressure.
3. Bite ginger slices
Cut the ginger slices, take a slice and place it on the affected area, bite it tightly, you can keep it or replace the sliced ginger. Ginger itself is anti-inflammatory and analgesic. It is also a heat plant, which has the effect of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, so it can achieve the effect of relieving toothache.
The above methods, no matter what type of toothache, can alleviate the pain to a certain extent in a short period of time.
