Recently we have started to see a lot of conspiracy theories on social media.
The reason I chose this subject was that one day my friend told me that the world was flat and that we had been deceived.
I was so surprised I wasn't interested. It could have been, it could have been, I could have said to myself, fuck it.
and then the same friend of mine went on to other theories.
He started posting other theories on social media. Different creatures, different events.e was so convinced that he forgot it was just a theory.
And why do you think that is?
what could be the reasons for this?

Conspiracy theories provide a way for people to feel safe and to have some kind of autonomy or control over random events. They are a coping mechanism for those at the mercy of fate.
Conspiracy theories help to understand the world The human mind is always looking for patterns; that is why sometimes we can see a face when looking at clouds. Similarly, we look for and see patterns in different events and situations. Most of us tend to find causal explanations for a series of events and behaviours. The tonnes of stimuli and events we encounter are a way of making sense of a chaotic world.

I found a very good source on this subject :)

Can Conspiracy Theories be Challenged?

Regarding how conspiracy theories can be fought and whether they can be debunked, Douglas says that although it is very difficult to change established beliefs, there are some methods. One way is to present people with facts, with accurate information. Another way is to immunise people against conspiracy theories.
