The Power of Self-Massages: A Path to Mobility and Wellbeing
34
Self-massages are movements performed with different materials such as rollers, bars or special balls. As the name implies, they are self-administered massages using the aforementioned tools.
The beneficial effects of this practice are diverse and numerous and can sometimes be enough to solve a problem or achieve a goal.
It enables:
-> Improve mobility by releasing contracted muscle areas, thus gaining flexibility for a specific activity or simply well-being.
-> Improve recovery by evacuating waste products and promoting fluid circulation following intense effort.
-> Fight pain by deactivating trigger points (painful muscular areas) which can be the cause of pain or future pain.
-> To start warming-up by awakening little-used sensory and/or motor areas.
Self-massage is therefore an excellent way to combat moderate aches and pains, gain flexibility and mobility, and warm up.
Tips:
2 to 3 sessions a week is enough to maintain and develop flexibility.
