BTC halving is coming
There are less than 100 days left until the halving event in Bitcoin, which both investors and miners are waiting for.
According to CoinGecko data, Bitcoin's next halving will occur in approximately 14 thousand 390 blocks or 99 days.
After this update, block rewards will be cut in half from 6.25 to 3,125 BTC.
Predictions about when the halving will occur are determined by the average block mining time of 10 minutes on the Bitcoin blockchain. According to current estimates, this is expected to fall on April 22.
There have been three halvings in the Bitcoin network throughout history. Block rewards decreased from 50 to 25 BTC in 2012, to 12.5 BTC in 2016, and to 6.25 BTC in 2020.
Halving updates will continue until the last Bitcoin is produced, approximately in 2140 . Bitcoin's maximum supply is limited to 21 million.
Miners, who currently earn income from both block rewards and transaction fees, will only earn money from transaction fees after that date.
Bitcoin entered the bull market in the periods following each halving event in the past . However, it cannot be said that there is a direct cause-effect relationship between halving and bull markets.
