Bells of Christmas
On Christmas Day, I heard the bells ring out their traditional melodies, which were wild and sweet with the repeated phrases "peace on earth, good will toward men."
I reflected on how, as the day arrived, the unbroken hymn of "peace on earth, good will to men" had been resonating from the bell towers of every Christian nation!
Until it begins to ring and sing,
The day turned into night, and vice versa.
a chime, a voice
A wonderful hymn of world peace and good will for all people!
Then, in the South, a cannon roared from every black, cursed mouth, drowning out the carols of peace and goodwill toward men.
The homes built upon the foundations of a continent seemed to have been torn asunder by an earthquake, leaving them abandoned.
"There is no peace on earth," I cried out in desperation. Hatred is powerful and mocks the refrain of "peace on earth, good will to men."
"God is not dead, nor does He sleep; The Wrong shall fail, The Right conquer, With peace on earth, good will to men," rang the bells louder and deeper at that point.
