Hack On Solana: Solana Scribes
SOL saw serious activity in the opening of 2024, now they have a hackathon.
If you’ve followed some of our crypto musing, or maybe even our crypto telegram you’ve probably learned pretty quickly that we kinda love Solana.
Fast, with low gas fees and improved uptime, 2023 and beyond introduced a wide array of new projects into the Solana ecosystem. While we’ve seen the influx of meme coins that we see on other blockchains there’s also been a bunch of legitimate projects, ranging from blogging platforms right through to short-form social media and other real-world use cases.
2023 also saw the launch of the Solana Mobile which included the Saga Genesis NFT. This limited-run NFT provided holders with airdrops and other rewards for their participation and investment in the SOL ecosystem. In fact, the Saga was such a success that prices spiked rapidly after launch and it encouraged SOL to release a Mk 2 version of the Saga.
While it’s currently still at the preorder stage, it’s fair to say that SOL has tried to take care of those who have supported it.
With this success in its footsteps, SOL has decided to kick off 2024 with one of our favourite things. A hackathon. With over 130k USDT rewards for those who decided to participate and are able to land a prize. Known as Solana Scribes, it looks like an exciting project with more than a few lucrative returns for participation. Let’s check it out.
What is Solana Scribes
A hackathon that focuses on everything from development to content creation, Scribes gives creators the means to participate in expanding the SOL ecosystem and collecting rewards for doing so.
In our opinion, we think Scribes is pretty great just due to the sheer number of people that they’ve tried to give access to. While hackathons often require a reasonably high level of technical skill SOL has also included things like meme creation and social media promotion.
This means that anyone who is willing to check out the content is probably going to be able to find something that suits their talents.
Tracks & Cash. Well Crypto Anyways
It works by using “Tracks” which are projects that have an available reward bounty. Projects will include their track into the hackathon and creators can submit posts, articles and information which may win them a prize.
While most prizes are paid out in USDC, you will find some payouts are in project tokens. This means that the prize may change over time. If you’re able to stake tokens now, you might find it to be pretty lucrative.

While some tracks are reasonably simple, requiring no more than a social media post, you’ll also find some tracks require significant work or technical skill if you intend to put in a submission. Thankfully, a quick look at the prize pool shows us that some of these prices are worth chasing. Check out that prize pool for Helium Network in the screen capture below.

How Do I Participate
Scribes start on the 18th of February and creators will be able to pick their projects and enter their submissions from that point. While you’ll need a SOL wallet to participate you’ll also find the rest of it to be reasonably simple if you're choosing the easy tasks.
However to maximise your chances we’d recommend playing to your strengths and doing some planning before the event opens. This means you’ll be able to get a feel for what projects interest you as well as get some planning together ahead of time.
Remember, there is no rule that says content or posts must be produced after the event opens. It’s fine, and even smart to get an idea now so that when the time comes you’re able to get an entry straight in rather than compiling it on the day. Just remember to ensure you are meeting the eligibility criteria for the track of your choice.
Should I Participate?
As we’ve said in other articles, people should make decisions that are based on their own circumstances and understanding of a given situation. However, we’ve also said free crypto is the best crypto, so really you’ll have to make that choice for yourself.
You probably know that we’re pretty bullish on SOL though so realistically speaking if you’re to find the time to participate it’s probably in your best interests if you go ahead and do so. There’s an awfully large number of prizes up for grabs and the contestant numbers haven’t been flooding in yet. You could almost say that Scribes may be more worthy than an airdrop, depending on the context of said airdrop. If you’re able to land first prize on a larger project, it’s almost like having an airdrop on its own!
Will you participate in Solana Scribes? Did you see a project you liked when you looked at the website? If you did, drop a comment. And remember if you decide to participate, Good Luck! Hope you can land a prize.
