GM Celestia stakers!
We are excited to share that all the necessary groundwork to facilitate the airdrop of ALT tokens to Celestia stakers has been completed.
This follows our Airdrop Season One announcement on the eve of our token launch — which set out the eligibility and claim instructions for our OG Badge and Oh Ottie NFT holders, Altitude participants, and EigenLayer restakers. We appreciate your patience, and are thrilled to now enable this for our dear Celestia stakers.

What is ALT?
ALT is AltLayer’s native utility token, and will be a central force and enabler in powering our ecosystem. As we enter a new era with our flagship ‘restaked rollups’ product — the token will be an important means of economic exchange for rollup users, builders and network participants. Some of its functions are listed below:

• Economic bond: ALT token will be used alongside restaked assets to provide economic stake. This stake can be slashed if malicious behavior is detected
• Governance: ALT token holders can vote on governance decisions
• Protocol Incentivization: Operators in the AltLayer ecosystem can earn ALT tokens as rewards for their services
• Protocol Fees: Network participants will need to pay for intra-network services in ALT tokens

AltLayer 🤝Celestia
Here is a quick recap of our announcement on January 23, 2024, regarding Season One ALT Airdrop campaign: We had earmarked 3% of the total token supply for distribution among the AltLayer, EigenLayer, and Celestia communities. Notably, a significant portion — around 10% of these tokens — was specifically reserved for the Celestia community.
We cannot overstate the pivotal role that the Celestia team, alongside the broader Celestia community and various stakeholders, has played in shaping and advancing the modular space. Their contributions have been instrumental in fostering the growth and evolution of the modular ecosystem, for which we are immensely grateful.
As we embark on this airdrop journey, we hope that it will serve as a catalyst for both builders and enthusiasts to further champion the ethos of “modularism not maximalism.” By aligning cross-ecosystem incentives, we aspire to foster an environment to play infinite-sum games and unlock possibilities for collaboration and innovation.
We look forward to witnessing the impact that this airdrop will have on our collective journey towards a more modular and scalable ecosystem. And we hope your participation in the AltLayer ecosystem and the token will grow deeper as some of the token functionalities are enabled on the network.
Airdrop Details
Any community member who has staked TIA natively or with the LST provider MilkyWay before the snapshot time (see below) is eligible for the airdrop. Those who have at least 35 staked TIA at the point of snapshot are eligible for the ALT airdrop.
We have collated data on natively staked TIA as well as those staking with the LST provider MilkyWay to create a tiered airdrop model. The exact number of ALT tokens airdropped to an address will depend on the tier to which it belongs. We would like to thank the MilkyWay team for providing us with the staking data.
In total, 94,759 addresses are eligible for airdrop spread across 5 tiers as shown in the table below. Our goal with the tiers is to ensure that the tokens get into the hands of as many Celestia community holders as possible.
Snapshot time: Please note that a snapshot of Celestia stakers addresses was taken on January 17, 2024 12:00:17 AM UTC (Celestia block number 571632) and MilkyWay TIA (milkTIA) was taken on January 17, 2024 12:00:11 AM UTC (Osmosis block number 13305634)
Claim Duration (only for Celestia stakers)
The airdrop claim will be a two-step process. In the first phase (aka the registration phase), eligible Celestia addresses will need to register their Ethereum address that will receive the ALT tokens. Registrations will be open for 2 weeks as shown in the table below starting from February 2, 2024, 0800 UTC. The second phase (aka the claim phase) will start on February 20, 2024 and will be open until March 05, 2024.
Any unclaimed ALT tokens from either the registration phase or claim phase will be returned to AltLayer’s Treasury.
