My Raspberry Pi Acquisition and the Path Ahead

A while ago I have finally decided to get myself a Raspberry PI there where a lot of hurdles with setup for different projects but this is what I am learning with it!

Networking

With PI first thing I tackled(and still am) is networking capabilities. Downloading the light Image for PI I am prompted to SSH to device + have to check the IP address of device to be able to do so.
My project ideas I will address here are:
VPN(Virtual Private Network): VPN is a technology that allows for secure and encrypted communication over a public network, typically the internet. To be honest I will use it to watch Russian propaganda.
VPC(Virtual Private Cloud): Cloud services like AWS, Azure are well known. VPC allows you to create a logically isolated network environment within the cloud, similar to a traditional private network.
NAS(Network Attached Storage): NAS refers to a storage system that is connected to a network and provides centralized storage accessible to multiple devices.
Light image is suggested for PI OS as Desktop version has limitations.
DNS(Domain Name System): Project that is mostly suggested to start with using Pi-hole as it acts as DNS to block advertisements and tracking domains at the network.

IoT & Robotics

Both of these can overlap in some extent but they are not completely the same.
IoT (Internet of Things): Refers to a network of physical devices embedded with sensors, software and connectivity capabilities to collect and exchange data over the internet. For IoT It can run software to communicate with sensors, interact with cloud services, and control external devices.

Robotics
Most ambitious way to use PI involve building and controlling physical robots using the Raspberry Pi as the brain. Include motors, actuators, sensors and other components to create a functioning robot.
In robotics projects, the Raspberry Pi typically runs software that handles the control and logic of the robot.
While some IoT definetly overlap with robotics not all are robotics and vice versa. IoT focus on various applications beyond robotics like home automation, environmental monitoring or smart devices.
Robotics in a nutshell concentrates on building and controlling physical devices.

Conclusion

Coming from a software development background it’s really refreshing learning something else I am currently just focusing on Networking related tasks and later on will transition into IoT
Robotics while is interesting and encapsulates base of engineering it is a lot more capital heavy investment of acquiring parts to build a physical functioning device. But electronics is something I want to dive into and Robotics and parts of IoT handles it as well.
With automation taking us by storm more manual work knowledge may put us aside from competition and be still relevant in the long run.
