Decades after its inception, Michael Jackson‘s initial studio demo of “Big Boy” is poised for a global blockchain release. This historic recording, kept secret for over five decades, will make its debut on December 7 as a ‘digital vinyl’ via a blockchain-powered platform.

Titled “Big Boy (One-Derful Version),” this track is set to be digitally launched through the Anotherblock music platform, offering access via its player, including images of the original master tape and song components. The release window spans 48 hours, presenting both an open and a limited edition.

Dated back to July 13, 1967, the recording captures an eight-year-old Michael Jackson and his siblings during their inaugural studio session at One-Derful in Chicago.

The collaboration between Recordpool, owner of the recording, and Swedish blockchain-based music and royalty marketplace, Anotherblock, has culminated in this significant release.

The Evolution of “Digital Vinyl”
Anotherblock has previously collaborated with industry giants like RihannaThe Weeknd, and Justin Bieber.

“Releasing this on-chain as a digital vinyl enables us to build narratives and communities around the song, transcending its mere existence as a commodity,” expressed a spokesperson. “Certain songs, especially this one, deserve a dedicated space beyond the deluge of tracks flooding the market daily. This new format empowers us to weave captivating tales around the music.”

Katherine Jackson, Michael’s mother, expressed her anticipation for the release, emphasizing that these “recordings of our musical heritage find a new rhythm in the digital age. It stands as a testament to the timeless nature of the Jacksons’ story and music.”
