Poetry: Wish You were here

The world spins on, a vibrant sphere,
But colors seem a shade less clear.
A constant echo in my ear,
A silent plea, "Wish you were here."

The sun still paints the morning bright,
But dawn's embrace feels cold and tight.
The warmth you brought, a guiding light,
Extinguished now, lost in the night.

Empty chairs whisper tales untold,
Halls that once rang with laughter's gold,
Now hold a silence, stark and cold,
A hollow ache, a story untold.

Familiar paths we used to tread,
Leave lonely footprints, softly spread.
The wind sighs through the leaves overhead,
"Wish you were here," the branches plead.

Familiar sights, once shared with glee,
Now pierce my heart, a memory.
The scent of rain, the autumn tree,
All sing a song of "what used to be."

Laughter spills from a window near,
A joyous sound, both sweet and clear.
But envy stings, a silent tear,
For joy unshared, a lonely cheer.

At night, the stars, a million bright,
Glitter like diamonds in the night.
But cold they seem, devoid of light,
Without your gaze to share their might.

The moon, a beacon pale and wan,
Casts shadows long where we once ran.
I search for comfort, hold on, plan,
To bridge the gap, a missing span.

Dreams offer solace, fleeting grace,
A stolen moment, a familiar face.
But waking brings the empty space,
And whispers soft, "Wish you were here."

Each whispered word, a gentle sting,
A constant yearning on the wing.
To hear your voice, a song to sing,
To feel your touch, the comfort it brings.

I search for answers in the rain,
In crashing waves, a calming strain.
The universe, a vast domain,
Offers no solace for the pain.

Time, they say, will heal the wound,
But time feels heavy, leaden, bound.
Memories linger, all around,
A constant echo, a mournful sound.

Perhaps in starlight's gentle gleam,
Or whispered secrets in a stream,
A hidden message, a whispered dream,
"Though I am gone, love's fire will beam."

In acts of kindness, freely given,
In helping hands, to earth forgiven,
A legacy lives, a purpose driven,
A spark of you, forever livin'.

In laughter shared, in tears that fall,
Your memory lives, a guiding call.
Within my heart, you stand so tall,
And answer back, "I hear your call."

Though miles may separate, or years may crawl,
The bond we shared will never stall.
Love's embers glow, beyond the wall,
And whisper soft, "We'll meet once more, that's all."

So I'll keep living, day by day,
With lessons learned to light my way.
And though you're gone, you'll never stray,
For in my heart, you'll always stay.

For even in this vast unknown,
Love's tender thread will never be thrown
Aside, forgotten, or overthrown.
You're with me still, though you've flown.

And when the sun dips low and red,
Painting the sky in hues unsaid,
I'll face the stars, and raise my head,
And whisper softly, "Wish you were here," instead.
