İlham Aliyev
Ilham Heydar oglu Aliyev was born on December 24, 1961 in Baku.
In 1967-1977, he studied at secondary school No. 6 in Baku.
In 1977-1982, he studied at the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. After graduating from MDBMI, in 1982 he entered the post-graduate course of that institution.
In 1985, he defended his thesis and received the scientific degree of candidate of historical sciences, and in 1985-1990 he was a teacher of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations.
During 1991-1994, he worked in the field of private business and managed a number of production-commercial enterprises.
From 1994 to August 2003, he was first the vice-president and then the first vice-president of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He actively participated in the implementation of the national leader Heydar Aliyev's oil strategy.
In 1995 and 2000, he was elected a member of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Since 1997, he has been the President of the National Olympic Committee of Azerbaijan.
In 1999, he was elected the deputy chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party, in 2001, the first deputy chairman, and in 2005, the party chairman.
In 2001-2003, he was the head of the delegation of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan at the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). In January 2003, he was elected the deputy chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, a member of the Bureau of PACE.
On August 4, 2003, after being approved by the Milli Majlis, he was appointed the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan. In this regard, the powers of the deputy were terminated.
Ilham Aliyev was elected the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on October 15, 2003. More than 76 percent of voters voted in favor of Ilham Aliyev in the presidential elections.
In 2004, he was awarded the diploma and medal of the honorary member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
In the elections held on October 15, 2008, Ilham Aliyev, who won 88.73 percent of voters' votes, was elected the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the second time.
In the elections held on October 9, 2013, Ilham Aliyev, who won 84.54 percent of voters' votes, was elected the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan for the next time.
In the elections held on April 11, 2018, Ilham Aliyev was re-elected as the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, having won 86.02 percent of voters' votes.
He knows Azerbaijani, Russian, English, French and Turkish languages.
He is married. He has three children and five grandchildren.

Barroso signed a Joint Declaration on the Southern Gas Corridor. [144] During his visit to Brussels in 2013, Ilham Aliyev expressed the importance of the Joint Declaration for energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and the EU in the following words: "Energy cooperation is, of course, one of the most important parts of our relations. As the president of the country supporting NATO operations in Afghanistan , Ilham Aliyev participated in a number of meetings within the NATO summits held in Chicago in 2012 and Wales in September 2014. [174] [175] In July 2016, President Aliyev participated in a meeting dedicated to Afghanistan at the NATO summit in Warsaw . [176] [177] On November 23, 2017, President Aliyev met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in Brussels . At the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation between NATO and Azerbaijan and security issues in the South Caucasus region. The Secretary General also appreciated Azerbaijan's contributions to the "Resolute Support Mission" led by NATO. [178] [179]
