Consensus, CoinDesk's global crypto asset and Web3 event, has seen many heated blockchain battles in its 10-year history, but in 2024 the battle will enter a new level with the popular Karate Cobat.
Two crypto asset influencers, Nic Carter and David Hoffman, will go karate on May 30 during Consensus 2024 in Austin, Texas.
Influencer Fight Club 2 is part of the increasingly popular Karate Combat series, an anything-goes version of the mixed martial arts UFC without the (time-consuming) Newaza.
Carter, co-founder of data analytics site Coin Metrics and VC fund Castle Island Ventures, will represent Bitcoin, while Hoffman, founder of media platform Bankless, will represent Ethereum The match will be a two-minute round, with a third round to follow if the match cannot be settled

Billy McFarland, the organizer of the Fyre Festival, known for its various troubles, will also be competing against Alex, known by the hand
I'm very confident," Carter said in an X DM.
I've never trained in martial arts before, and I don't think David has either, but both of them are very focused on fitness, and it should be a good fight.

"They both hire trainers, learn basic fighting skills, and prepare hard while doing their daily work.

Friends are making a bet that the winner will donate $10,000 to the open source development organization of his choice; Carter's choice is Bitcoin Core, which manages the Bitcoin network; Hoffman is the Protocol Guild, a similar organization in the Ethereum community.
When the news broke on X the other day, several people pointed out the pair's physiques and ridiculed their fighting skills, but they didn't care, because they were both "very good fighters.
In the end," Carter said, "it's me and David who take the risk of getting into the ring, and all they can do is watch and see.

If they want to fight, they're welcome to get in a pre-fight and contact Karate Combat, but David and I aren't saying we're awesome fighters, the goal is entertainment and a new challenge, not to embellish their fighting careers.
"Hoffman continued, "I listen with amusement to Hayter's talk about wanting to fight us," and "I have no intention of fighting anyone but Nick Carter.
"This is the 46th karate combat match and the second "Influencer Fight Club" (IFC) The first, held in Mexico City in February, saw Ben Armstrong, aka "Bitboy," and meme coin creator "More Light" battle, which garnered hundreds of thousands of views on YouTube BitBoy beat More Light, a fan favorite, in an aggressive fight.

.ONLYLARPING, founder of Karate Combat, said he wants to make this fight "the first official sport of Web3.
It makes sense to partner with the world's biggest and best conferences and the most interesting influencers and founders."

The Karate Combat Series at Consensus will feature six bouts by influencers and 10 bouts by professional fighters, with bouts beginning at 7 p.m. local time on May 30.
