Leon Spinks: The Man Who Shocked the World

Leon Spinks (July 11, 1953 – February 5, 2021) was an American professional boxer who competed from 1977 to 1995. He is best known for defeating Muhammad Ali to win the WBC and WBA heavyweight titles in 1978.
Early life and amateur career
Spinks was born in St. Louis, Missouri, and grew up in the nearby town of North St. Louis County. He began boxing at an early age, and won the light heavyweight gold medal at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal. He finished his amateur career with a record of 178–7 with 133 knockouts.

Professional career
