Australia's' World Cup chances

With the FIFA World Cup taking place in Qatar in November 2022, the fight for the remaining places heats up in the coming days. Australia faces a big challenge against Peru to earn a place in the World Cup to earn another world cup appearance [1].

After beating the UAE 2-1 earlier in the week the Australian team face are far more difficult assignment against Peru on Tuesday morning. Australia have had a disappointing world Cup campaign but have the chance to gain entry into the QATAR World Cup in 2022 with a win against Peru.

A very tough Assignment!

The last time Peru faced Australia was the 2018 World Cup with Peru victorious 2-0. Peru would be considered favourites [2], and poses a formidable side that would be feeling very confident. Australia will need to take advantage of their chances, and convert the limited opportunities they will create.

Whilst a biased Australian fan fully supporting Australia, it is my prediction the game will be 1-1 at the end of regular time and Australia take a 2-1 lead in extra time. In the event scores remain tied at the end of extra time a tense high pressure penalty shoot out will decide the winner.  Australia coming out on top. 

Australia 2 Peru 1 in extra time and Australia clinch the all important world cup place.
