What does it mean for a relationship to be mutually respectful?

Mutual respect is a very simple concept. It means that you treat your spouse or partner thoughtfully and courteously. It means that you avoid treating each other in rude, disrespectful, and demeaning ways. Mutual respect means that you view the opinions, wishes,
and values of your partner as worthy of serious consideration.

Well, contrary to some popular belief that respect simply means regarding a person's age and status and deferring to their opinions and instructions. Respect is so much more than that respect isn't acting in fear.

Respect is in admiration, it's regarding love, and it is in affection. It is not just actions we believe to be right, but the mindset that prompts those actions.
While this sounds very simple it takes a consistent effort to treat your partner respectfully. Respectfully doing things such as: considering his/her opinion, consulting with your partner before making decisions that affect your partner,  taking an active interest in your spouse’s or partner’s life (work, daily activities, and interests) compromising and negotiating with your partner about important issues that affect both of you and your family.

Some people respect the relationship they are in but have no regard for the people they are in that relationship with. Also, they are people who claim to respect the people with whom they are in a relationship, but have no regard for the relationship itself.

You will hear them say things like that's my wife, 'you can't talk to her like that', but they are saying this to their side chic they have been funding for months now. Just imagine.
Respect for your partner and your relationship goes hand in hand. You can't have one without the other.
