Securing Your Digital Presence
General Tips for Web3 Security
- Strong Passwords
- Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
- Wallet Security
- Smart Contract Auditing
- Decentralized Identity (DID)
- Secure Network Connection
In the Web3 landscape, safeguarding your digital assets transcends choice; it's a necessity.
Foundational steps play a pivotal role in fortifying your online presence.
1. Strong Passwords
Your first line of defense involves creating robust passwords. Utilize combinations of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. Avoid easily guessable information like birthdays or common words.
2. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Elevate your security game with 2FA. Whether through authenticator apps, SMS, or hardware tokens, this extra layer provides a crucial barrier against unauthorized access.
3. Wallet Security
Your wallet is the gateway to the decentralized realm. Opt for cold storage solutions like Ledger, KeepKey, ColdCard, BitBox02, or Trezor to keep your private keys offline, minimizing exposure to potential threats.
Advanced Security Measures
Delving deeper into the realm of Web3 security unveils more intricate strategies to ensure your safety:
4. Smart Contract Auditing
Understanding the smart contracts you engage with is crucial. Consider professional auditing services to identify and rectify vulnerabilities, ensuring your interactions are secure.
5. Decentralized Identity (DID)
Empower yourself with self-sovereign identity solutions. DIDs give you control over your personal information, enhancing privacy and reducing reliance on centralized entities.
6. Secure Network Connection
Enhance your security posture with Virtual Private Networks (VPNs). Encrypting your network connection safeguards your data, protecting against potential malicious attacks.
By incorporating these measures into your Web3 practices, you not only fortify your digital presence but also empower yourself with the knowledge to navigate the decentralized landscape securely. Stay informed, stay secure!'
My Personal Tools That I use to keep Myself Safe In WEB3
Revoke.Cash
You can use revoke.cash to check your token approval.
So, If you are new to web3 you might not understand that what is token approval so let me explain this when you swap a token to another on a particular dex (e.g pancakeswap) you give permission to pancakeswap to spend your token some protocol takes large number of tokens for approval as this reduces your gas fee, you don't need to spend gas fee again and again to approve the token. This is safe but when that dex got hacked and you have given that dex approval for spending of your token you may lose your token.
So You must check regularly and revoke your approvals.
De.Fi
De.Fi is much advanced than revoke.cash and it has better UI it automatically scans your wallet and tell you a health score of your wallet.
You can even use revoke on de.fi with much easier way it will show all the dangerous contract you have interacted.
You can use my referrals code for Sign-up on De.Fi : DEFI-560faab6

Fire Extension
It shows up whenever you are making a transaction using your metamask and display a warning.
I will leave other things to make sure you explore it and comment it down.
