Hellboy II: The Golden Army - "In this film, instead of Nazis, machines, and mad scientists driving our world to disaster, we have ancient gods and characters we have thrown away in a corner from our own world. I compare the situation in our film to the current situation of Native Americans in America. Native Americans have been pushed into protected areas. If you go there, you might hear an old and wise Native American say, 'This was bound to happen. We no longer have the strength to fight. We have accepted our fate.' Another Native American with the spirit of Geronimo might say, 'Otherwise, we would continue to kill the white man.' Our film is similar to this situation. We have elf characters. They have withdrawn to a corner. If they had not withdrawn, they would take over the world. The equivalent of the question 'What if Native Americans had nuclear warheads?' in our film is that elves actually have powerful weapons that they can use. So, what if one day they decide to use those weapons? What happens?"
