Today we will introduce you to such a great person about whom you cannot believe that such people are born on this earth. Such courage, such strong will power, such restraint which you would hardly have seen in any other person before. So let's meet this great REAL HERO.

Many times you must have heard people saying that “If a person wants, he can move a mountain”. And today we are introducing you to one such person who has literally moved a mountain single-handedly. Have given.

I am talking about Dashrath Manjhi, who lives in Gahlaur, a very backward village in Gaya district. Gehlaur is a place where people had to walk three kilometers even to get water. Mr. Dasrath Manjhi, a laborer by profession, who lives in a small hut with his family, single-handedly carved a path 360 feet long and 30 feet wide through the Gehlaur mountain. Due to this, the distance between Atri and Wazirganj blocks of Gaya district reduced from 80 kilometers to just 3 kilometers. Obviously this brought a lot of comfort to his villagers.

And to do this mountain-like work, he did not use any dynamite or machine, he did this feat only with his hammer and chisel. To do this work, he faced many difficulties, sometimes people called him mad, sometimes he was crazy, even his family members opposed him in the beginning, but Dasrath Manjhi, who was determined to his tune, did not listen to anyone. And once he picked up a hammer and chisel, he left it only after twenty-two years. Yes, in 1960, when he was not even 25 years old, he kept cutting mountains with a hammer and chisel in his hand for twenty-two years. Day and night, without worrying about storm or rain, Dashrath Manjhi remained busy in making the impossible possible. Ultimately the mountain had to bow down. His work was completed only after 22 years of tireless hard work (1960-1982). But he always had the regret that his wife, whose troubles inspired him to do this work, was no longer alive to follow the path created by him.

After this feat of Dashrath ji, the world started knowing him by the name of Mountain Cutter and Mountain Man. Earlier also, Dashrath Manjhi had done the amazing work of traveling on foot from Gaya to Delhi on the railway tracks and meeting Jagjivan Ram and the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. But what is the significance of these works after the amazing work of cutting the mountain?

Shri Dashrath Manjhi, born in 1934, died on 18 August 2007 in AIIMS Hospital, Delhi while fighting cancer. His last rites were performed with state honors by the Bihar government. Even though he is not among us today, his amazing work will continue to inspire many generations to come.
