The first time I heard anything about or from Pastor Jerry Eze, it was in the year 2022. I was listening to one of Dunsin Oyekan’s song and he was on it. I loved what I heard from him. . It was later on that I heard that he has a large following on YouTube and it is monetized.

That is one of the ways he minsters to people and I have recently been hearing that the social media platform pays a lot for his huge engagements on the platform. Yesterday, I stumbled on a video on facebook in which a lady boldly claimed that Pastor Jerry Eze is one of the most paid YouTuber as he has a lot of engagement on the platform from his Christian followers. She then alleged that Pastor Jerry Eze is using people to make money. The video left me wondering.

What exactly is wrong with the monetization of a Pastor’s YouTube channel? No one ever challenged the monetization of the platform of secular artists or even pornstars so why is it wrong for a pastor to have his social media platform monetized. As I swiped away from the video, I knew I had to make this post. Coincidentally, a day or two before the wayward lady made this claim, I had come across a video of Apostle Femi Lazarus in which he stated that the devil wins through good storytelling and the people of God seem to be on the lower side because we shy away from talking back or boldly telling our stories to advance the kingdom of God.

In this regard, silence is not always golden. We have to step up and defend this gospel and the dividends that come with it so that we will not be made to look inferior or stupid in the eyes of the world. I believe this too, is part of pushing the gospel. There is absolutely nothing wrong in the monetization of the social media channels of churches or pastors. Besides, people with a large engagement on their channels get monetized. “WHAT GOD CANNOT DO DOES NOT EXIST!!!!” I’m sure that lady is a Christian oh.
