The FIFA World Cup is the most prestigious association football tournament in the world, as well as the most widely viewed and followed sporting event. The World Cup is an international competition, in which teams from FIFA member countries compete to win the world title.
The inaugural tournament took place in 1930, hosted by Uruguay. The tournament was created by FIFA president Jules Rimet, and the winning team receives a trophy named in his honor. Uruguay won the inaugural tournament, setting the stage for the global spectacle that the World Cup would become.

1930 WORLD CUP

The 1930 FIFA World Cup was the first tournament of the FIFA World Cup and was held in Uruguay from 13 July to 30 July 1930. This tournament was the first international football tournament organized by FIFA.

Among the teams participating in the tournament, there were a total of 13 national teams, 7 from South America, 4 from Europe and 2 from North America. The reason why so few teams from Europe participated was because travel was difficult and expensive at the time.

The tournament was organized in four groups, with the first two groups consisting of three teams each and the other two groups consisting of four teams. After the group matches, the leaders of each group advanced to the semi-finals.

The final match of the tournament was played between Uruguay and Argentina at the Estadio Centenario in Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay. Uruguay, the host of the first World Cup, became the champion by beating Argentina 4-2. This victory is considered one of the most important achievements in Uruguay's football history.

1934 WORLD CUP

The 1934 FIFA World Cup was the second World Cup tournament and was held in Italy from 27 May to 10 June 1934. This tournament was the first World Cup held in Europe.

16 teams participated in the tournament and all of these teams passed through the qualifying rounds and participated in the tournament. This was the first tournament in World Cup history to use qualifying rounds.

1938 WORLD CUP

The 1938 FIFA World Cup was held in France between 4-19 June 1938. This is the second time the World Cup has been held in Europe.

15 teams participated in the tournament. Interestingly, strong teams from South America such as Argentina and Uruguay did not participate in this tournament. This was seen as a reaction to the World Cup being held in Europe twice in a row and the travel costs.

The 1938 World Cup continued the single-match knockout format. This format, like the previous tournament, has led to various controversies. In particular, Italy's defeat of the host country France in the quarter-finals was one of the most controversial moments of the tournament.

1942 AND 1946 WORLD CUP
