HOW IT ALL HAPPENED.
After running around for the day’s business, I had to return to base. So, I waited for any of the town service buses going my way. In Osogbo, the town service buses are called “korope”. A few meters from where I was waiting stood a young man about my age. He too seemed to be waiting for a korope. We both waited in vain. After some minutes, I turned and saw that the other guy had walked on. I waited for some minutes before deciding to walk on too.
After walking for some minutes, I turned and saw a bus coming from behind. Finally, a bus going my way is in sight. I watched out for pedestrians walking towards me and lo, there was a madman within meters. The very moment I focused on avoiding him was the very moment the bus crawled past me. It was too late for me to waved it to a halt.
I watched as the bus stopped for the other man several meters in front of me. He was picked and as I watched them go, I whispered “timing” to myself. I was distracted by the madman and consequently the timing of my supposed ride. I had to make up for it by walking for several minutes before fortune smiled on me again. May we not miss our divine timing in Jesus Name. Amen.
I had a little fun though. Bikers had hollered me up. “corper corper”, “corper weeeee”, and even when I eventually got into a korope, the first greeting I got was “corper, good afternoon oh”. It was an elderly man showing me love.
And that was how my day went.
