True love

I have learned what it doesn’t look like and how it shouldn’t feel. I have learned that it’s easy to say ‘I love you’ but much harder to ensure that someone feels it. I have learned that love is not what we see in the movies. It is not grand gesture or gifts. I have learned that love can not be forced or faked. I have learned that love is often a choice. And this may not be the romantic fairytale that some of us would want to hear, but it’s the truth. Love is opening your self up to another humans flaws and being courageous enough to show them yours. Love is safety and patience. Love is not only tolerating each other’s deferences. But embracing and celebrating them. Love is giving someone the ability to be themselves. Love is fostering self. Love is your partner and being conscious of their pain points. Love is remembering the little thing they tell you and big things they don’t, but which are written all over their face.
