Introducing "Predictive Liquid Democracy"
My intellectual friend Loke Hagberg, creator of the Digital Demoracy NGO in Sweden, has, together with Samuel Färdow Kazen, written a publication about Predictive Liquid Democracy. Their work focuses on ideas and proposals about how liquid democracy can be improved and developed further by applying the Predictive Liquid Democracy (PLD) model.
PLD introduces prediction markets as a key component to liquid democracy by allowing participants to make predictions on the outcomes of proposals, effectively enabling for collective intelligence to forecast and influence decision-making. This new and more unique feature enhances the quality of decisions by incorporating predictive insights, thereby making the democratic process more informed and effective.
PLD maintains the liquid democracy feature of flexible vote delegation, including meta-delegation, allowing votes to be delegated across multiple stages. Moreover, the flexibility in delegation and the ability to customize decision-making frameworks according to specific organizational needs allow PLD to be more responsive and context-sensitive than traditional liquid democracy.
Furthermore, the PLD system is adaptable to various organizational needs by allowing groups to define and modify subject areas for decision-making. This enables tailoring the process to specific contexts and maximizing relevance and effectiveness.
