Bitcoin Education Takes Center Stage in El Salvador's Public School System

The innovative "Mi Primer Bitcoin" (El Salvador's Bitcoin Education Center) has clearly brought El Salvador to the forefront of Bitcoin education on a global scale.
El Salvador has recently raised the bar for financial literacy in the digital age by making significant improvements to its Bitcoin Diploma program and making Bitcoin education central to its public school system.

In 2021, El Salvador became the first country to legalize bitcoin as cash with the Bitcoin Law, and in June 2022, My First Bitcoin is launching a groundbreaking 10-week bitcoin diploma program to capitalize on this interest. this unprecedented program is recruiting 38 public school children and integrating bitcoin instruction into the national curriculum, a partnership between the nonprofit and the Ministry of Education that shows El Salvador's commitment to embrace digital currencies.
Curriculum version in 2024 translated into 23 languages
The main educational material, an open-source workbook, is said to demonstrate an open, inclusive and transparent approach to bitcoin literacy.
As part of an important program expansion, 700 public school teachers are also being trained as part of a pilot project to disseminate this information throughout the country in collaboration with Bitcoin Beach,* a sustainable bitcoin economic ecosystem on the coast of El Salvador.In March 2023, My First Bitcoin established a node network of leading bitcoin educators from around the world, and the project is becoming international as 29 educational projects in 18 countries have adopted the bitcoin diploma.

The 2024 curriculum edition adds further depth to this educational mosaic by exploring the development of digital currency, the history of money, and the intricacies of Bitcoin, including the Lightning Network; moreover, the 175-page workbook, designed for an extensive 10-week program, is accessible on GitHub, allowing for worldwide participation in the translation of the curriculum; that the 2023 curriculum was translated by over 40 foreign educators into 23 languages including Korean, Swahili, Luganda, Russian, Tamil, Japanese, and Hindi is a prime example of the widespread enthusiasm and collaborative spirit driving the education revolution.
