Today, we're sharing some of the details around our next protocol upgrade, which will include further Ethereum compatibility enhancements, as well as added support for EIP-4844.

First and foremost, our engineering team has been hard at work preparing Scroll Mainnet to be Dencun compatible.

This includes added support for EIP-4844 data blobs, in which we are expecting a 10x reduction in transaction fees with the help of some additional gas optimizations.

Additionally, we are also aiming to include the SHA-256 opcode, furthering our compatibility with the EVM, and allowing for an even broader range of DApps and use-cases to be built on top of Scroll.

We are making steady progress on the above, with EIP-4844 support now undergoing a period of auditing before mainnet implementation.

Following this period of testing, we will likely be ready to ship this protocol upgrade towards the end of April.

We will be updating our community with a more definitive timeline in the coming weeks, with an exact date for when this upgrade will be implemented.

In addition to the above, we are also working to implement advanced DA compression, as well as added support for Ethereum's EIP-1559 fee mechanism.

Both of these features will be implemented on Scroll Mainnet towards the end of May, shortly after this next protocol upgrade.
