So is it plagiarism

Good morning/evening

One night a couple of weeks ago I came out of the shower I caught my husband partaking in a guilty pleasure....................He was watching crypto You Tube! (not so bad as long as it is not some shiller) I have no idea who the guys were but it was just 2 guys talking crypto. One of them happened to have his own blog/website and when the other guy asked how he found time to write that many articles on top of everything else. His reply was I have not touched it in months, AI scrapes together all the news and rewrites it and even puts these articles automatically on his blog/site.

Well I was immediately on my high horse and said 'well that's plagiarism' which then led to a long discussion with my husband. We talk a lot about everything so this was not unusual.
some of the points covered

  • Is it ethical
  • is it cheating
  • I use AI images for thumbnails, is this plagiarism too
  • Embracing technology
  • Time people spend writing V time AI takes to write an article
  • Crediting others you have quoted

Firstly I don't class myself as a writer but I am doing something I enjoy, more a hobby but yes it is also nice to earn a little from a hobby, plus I love interacting with other crypto enthusiasts, people who do not think I an crazy playing with 'internet money'
My first instinct is no it is not ethical but am I just being old fashioned in this respect or stubborn even?
I definitely think it is cheating and if I am truly honest, some of the AI articles are just bland, I love reading but some of this AI stuff I just can't read.
My husband likes to debate so his opinion was I am cheating using AI images so what is the difference to use AI to write articles and when he asked why do I do that, my answer was 'well how else could I get a picture of a staircase covered in BItcoins leading to the moon!'
He was also of the opinion that we should embrace technology, we are in crypto! I couldn't really argue with that!
I also brought up the fact that when people write, they could spend hours writing an article, reading it through, researching things and even re-writing all or parts of it before publishing when the AI is just effectively taking the best bits of people's articles and re-writing it in no time at all.

If you then use AI to write but you use a long list of credits for sites that your information is from, is that in itself crediting the authors?

If you solely use AI for your articles should you state that it is AI? If you partly use AI should you state that it is improved with the help of AI?

Should I just accept that this is the way forward, in effect, if you can't beat them, join them?

I have embarked on a little experiment, in the time it takes me to write 1 article, AI has generated me 5 (including adding pictures but excluding research, it really depends so I went with an average of 2.5 hours) I posted my first AI article on Sunday 12th January and will try to post 1 each day of the week). I personally have found these articles dull and boring even though they are about things of interest to me. I am thinking about buying some stocks but have a lot of research to do. In a way I sort of hope people prefer my articles to the AI generated ones!

Also if I am honest, there was no enjoyment for me generating or reading the AI articles even though they were on topics of interest to me. I could not even tick the box to notify my subscribers about this post. Like it or hate it I will definately be back to non AI after this experiment has finished.
Ok so I gave up posting the AI articles, I got as far as posting 4 of them! Why did I stop?
1 I feel like I am deceiving people.
2 I feel no excitement about those articles.
3 I feel no pride with those articles, and also a bit ashamed of them.
4 How could I look my son in the eye and tell him, it is not OK to cheat

So although I could probably churn out many AI articles, make more Bulb points and maybe get that green tick quicker I won't just churn out AI generated articles to do it.

I am struggling with this one so as usual thank you for reading and please feel free to comment as I would love to hear your views.
