Web2 goes Web3
Half of the new wave of Web2 projects trying to go Web3 have no idea what they are doing. And it is annoying!
I’ve noticed a common pattern amongst some companies. Basically, they are trying to jump into the Web3 space, and the common point between all of them concerns the disrespect that they show towards the culture, fundamentals, and principles of the space that we all know and love.
Labeling this as modern-day colonization might be a stretch, it feels more like cultural appropriation. This would be somewhat acceptable if they demonstrated even a slight understanding of how to conduct themselves, but they don't.
If I go on a trip, with the intent to visit other countries, the least I can do is try to learn the basics of the basics, when it comes for example to the inhabitant's language: I don’t know, it may be a “good morning” a “thank you” or a “have a nice day”, whatever. For example, I will do everything in my reach to inform myself about what is polite or not polite. Maybe the way of greeting someone is a handshake, maybe a hug, maybe a kiss on the cheek ( not the godfather type) - maybe some kind of grabbing d* in Bangkok - I don’t know exactly, but you get the point.
Now, it's either sheer incompetence or a profound lack of self-awareness, but the gentlemen of centralization and “in extremis” capitalism, are occupying the crypto land (or trying to), without showing the tiniest hint of respect for what the pioneers build.
Let’s not forget that these visionaries and true builders, had passion, dedication, and a vision for a more fair economic system, that would rely on the principle of decentralization.
But the Web2 crew came in swinging their tiny d*cks, trying to make this space, theirs.
What's even more disconcerting is the dirty tactics they have brought to the table and of course the cherry on top of the cake (not a tasty one): their infatuated ego, which is the fruit of the success they’ve assorted in the Web2 domain. Web3 for them appears to be more like an egotistic trip, where they seem to take for granted the success of their past endeavors in Bitcoin land, and the reason is that they judge you, the user, as a “no-brainer guy, a degen, that will invest in any shitcoin if there is the slightest narrative of success behind it”, so for them victory is guaranteed.
Their motto is simple - "If it worked before, it will work again." They appear to feed off the belief that they can replicate past successes effortlessly even though applying the same formula in a totally different sector (facepalm)!
- “Hire Web3 experts? Preposterous idea! We have Joseph here who reached 1M selling insurances in MediCare, how hard will it be to 3x that number here?!”
- ”Let’s create a token out of thin air, and people will buy it, I mean they buy everything, look at the "Doggocoin" crypto…for sure they will buy our token.”
- “No, no, no, and no! We won’t pay to advisors, and people who understand Web3, even though we are migrating to the Web3 sector! If they figure out how to do it, for sure we will…and much faster. Advisors?! lol”
Oh, what a sight it is when failure comes knocking (takes a hit from the cigar while smirking)! What a sight it is, when CEOs moved by the hunger to extract the last penny out of your and mine pocket, miserably fail, and have to justify their actions regarding poorly guided investments. Oh. what a sight!
There is no greater feeling in the world than assisting someone kneeling before their ego, in excruciating shame in the face of defeat due to what I like to call stupidity. It is so poetic. It’s glorious in a way - I may be a little sadistic from time to times.
See, decentralization, is the term that these gents fear the most! Imagine abdicating all the power, spreading it across the users, and letting the course of actions flow naturally. This concept is so scary to them, that they cannot grasp it or perhaps they don’t even try to. And even when the inevitable moment of unsuccess presents itself, these “scumbags” cannot understand what went wrong. They fail to see, that we the users and believers in the fundamentals can see past their endgame, and that is the reason why they will never be successful.
Here success depends on the user, not the other way around, and while they don’t understand this, failure will be a constant. For the record, I will be clapping every single time. And no, not all are the same, but the majority has the same line of thought.
