Mats Julian Hummels, born on December 16, 1988, is a professional footballer from Germany. He primarily plays as a centre-back for the Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund and represents the Germany national team.
Hummels began his career in the youth academy of Bayern Munich. He later joined Borussia Dortmund on loan in January 2008, and subsequently signed with them permanently in February 2009 for a fee of €4 million. During his time at Dortmund, he achieved notable success, winning two Bundesliga titles and finishing as the runner-up in the 2012–13 UEFA Champions League. On July 1, 2016, Hummels returned to Bayern Munich.

However, Bayern Munich sold Hummels back to Borussia Dortmund on June 19, 2019. Throughout his career, he has been a key player for both clubs.
Internationally, Hummels has been a part of the Germany national team since 2010. He has earned over 70 caps, representing Germany at major tournaments including the FIFA World Cup in 2014 and 2018, as well as UEFA Euro in 2012, 2016, and 2020.
