Scroll: Mainnet Coming Soon?
Scroll is self-described as a "zkEVM-based zkRollup on Ethereum that enables native compatibility for existing Ethereum applications and tools." Scroll launched their pre-Alpha testnet earlier this year, followed by the Alpha testnet earlier this summer. Several third party sites have listed August of this year as the target date for the mainnet launch, but it might be a bit farther down the line. According to Scroll's roadmap, we're currently on Phase 3 (The Alpha testnet) with the mainnet being Phase 5. If Scroll does keep to their roadmap - and if the timing between the pre-Alpha testnet and Alpha testnet releases is any indication - then we should expect to see Phase 4 sometime in the next few months (which will be on the Sepolia test network), then followed by the mainnet launch.

So what does that mean for airdrop hunters? In my humble speculation, I think we've got a fairly decent amount of time to rack up a large amount of testnet transactions, both currently between Scroll and Goerli, as well as between Scroll and Sepolia when that above mentioned switch is made. For now, let's dive into some of the activities you can do currently to hopefully qualify for a potential Scroll airdrop.
Transfer Assets Between Goerli and Scroll
You'll need testnet assets for both Goerli and Scroll. The Goerli Faucet is my go-to site to grab some gETH once a day. Bware Labs offers a Scroll faucet, and there's also an official faucet for test ETH on Scroll, but I've run into issues regularly trying to claim on that one. However, if you're also unable to claim enough directly into Scroll's testnet, not to worry: we can bridge enough test assets over from Goerli to get started with other activities.
You can use the official Scroll bridge to transfer your test ETH between Goerli and Scroll. You can also easily add the Scroll Testnet to your Metamask account from Scroll's portal (as well as Goerli) if this is your first time using either or both test networks.
In addition to the Scroll bridge, Symbiosis also hosts a rotating set of testnets for swapping on their platform. At the time of writing, users can make test transactions among Goerli, Scroll, and ZetaChain. (The latter may interest you if you're also grinding for a potential ZetaChain airdrop, too!)
Swap Assets on Scroll
SyncSwap is a defi hub for Ethereum zkRollups. In addition to supporting several mainnet Ethereum-based networks, SyncSwap also hosts swap testing options for a handful of testnets, including Scroll. Make sure to change your wallet network to Scroll to get started, and then try swapping your ETH for other digital assets on the testnet. (Bonus tip: if you're the retweeting type, you can claim from SyncSwap's faucet once for additional testnet assets - just click on the button at the top right of their site for details.)
Dodo is an exchange that is also offering testing on the Scroll testnet. You can swap your test ETH and other assets for a wide variety of other tokens on the site. Make sure you're connected to the Scroll testnet, then trade your gETH for test assets like DAI and SDODO. Afterwards, head over to the Pools section of the site to set up some test pools on Scroll while you're there for some additional transactions to increase your activities on the testnet.
Summary of Testnet Activities on Scroll
Have you been participating in any of the above transactions in the hopes for an airdrop on Scroll? Are there other platforms building on Scroll that you've been interacting with, too? If so, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Happy airdrop hunting, frens!
