Flappy Bird's founder denies any involvement in the attempt to revive the once-famous game, as well as "says no" to crypto.

On September 15, the crypto community on X (Twitter) shared the latest post from Dong Nguyen's account, the founder of the once-famous Flappy Bird game.

In it, Mr. Dong Nguyen denied any information related to the attempt to revive the game that has been causing a stir in the gaming community in recent days, affirming that there was no such thing as selling the copyright of Flappy Bird to anyone. Notably, this is Mr. Dong's first post on X since 2017.

In addition to denying any involvement in the attempt to revive Flappy Bird, Mr. Nguyen Ha Dong also wrote that he "does not support crypto".

A few days ago, an organization called Flappy Bird Foundation announced that it had acquired the copyright to Flappy Bird and would soon reopen the game with many unique game modes and improvements. This information caused a stir in the world because it marked the 10th anniversary of Flappy Bird being removed after causing a global storm due to being involved in many copyright controversies and causing game addiction for many people.

However, the X community quickly discovered suspicious points about the new project. Many accounts pointed out evidence that the team behind the new Flappy Bird game may not be related to the original founder, Vietnamese programmer Nguyen Ha Dong, because Flappy Bird Foundation acquired the copyright to the game brand after Mr. Nguyen Ha Dong did not have time to re-register.

In addition, there were also reports that Flappy Bird's X account followed many KOLs about NFT, as well as the new project owner also being involved with NFT, leading to speculation that the new game would try to incorporate NFT and crypto elements. Flappy Bird quickly unfollowed those accounts. There were also rumors on social media that the new Flappy Bird game would be re-launched as a mini app on Telegram and issue a token called FLAP - a formula that has been applied extremely successfully in the past with names like Hamster Kombat, Catizen or Notcoin.
