Liverpool FC was founded on March 15th, 1892, following a dispute between Everton Football Club's board members. The club played its first match two months later against Rotherham Town at Anfield Stadium, which has been their home ground ever since. Throughout its history, Liverpool FC has become one of the most successful football clubs in England and Europe. They have won eighteen English League titles (second-most behind Manchester United), seven FA Cups, eight League Cups (the most by any team), six UEFA Champions League titles (the third-most by any team), three UEFA Europa Leagues/UEFA Cups & four European Super Cup trophies among other domestic and international honors. The club is famous for its passionate fan base known as "The Kop," who are renowned for their vocal support during matches. Many legendary players have graced the pitch wearing Liverpool's iconic red jersey over the years such as Ian Rush; Kenny Dalglish; Steven Gerrard; Jamie Carragher; John Barnes & many more. One notable moment in Liverpool's recent history was when they won the Champions League title under manager Jurgen Klopp in 2019 after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in Madrid. It marked their sixth triumph in Europe's premier club competition - a record held jointly with AC Milan.
