The imperfect dog

We adore our dog with all of our hearts, but we don't adore her foul farts as much.
We still give her a hug even though she has less than fresh dog breath.

She will not stop barking.
She is in charge of the house and yard.
If you park on the sidewalk or proceed beyond, you will probably get shot.

couriers, meter readers,
serve to infuriate her.
Possums, lizards, and the neighbor's cat won't be given a warm welcome.

Airspace receives the same consideration in the name of reducing crime.
It must be mentioned that we feel secure from birds that dare to soar over us.

She engages in combat with the leaf blower, broom, and lawnmower.
And turning on the vacuum won't make her behave at her best.

Although this canine type of pestering makes us feel a little embarrassed, she does offer security, for which we have affection.

Her kindness knows no bounds once introductions are made.
Even with thirty kilograms in their lap, not every visitor is completely enthralled.

Should you decide to leave your cozy chair, when you come back, she will still be there.
And when asked to go, she will become a limp, dead weight.

She dreads taking baths and tries desperately to avoid submersion.
However, she will demonstrate her dive technique in any muddy creek or pond!

We scratch her and get a smile from her.
Give her an inch, and she'll want a mile.
She will continue to demand more if you stop, prodding you with her paw and claw.

We all exclaim, "She's got character!"
Sometimes it's just a kinder way of stating that she's our problem child, or that she's a little crazy or wild.

We adore her despite all of her flaws.
She shows us that she loves us in return.
She's our charming, lovely gir

Not for the world would we trade.
