Crypto: Safe and Regulated / Unsafe and Unregulated
As the blockchain and cryptocurrency story develops and progress, the debate still continues for years: Should it be regulated or not? Is it against the target of crypto? Has regulation made anything better over the years?
For years, we've seen a lot countries banning crypto or trying to keep people away from crypto. India banned it a few times, one is recent. But there are even some Indian coins out there and India is one of the countries that a very big percentage of people involve in crypto. So the government failed. China tried it, banning crypto like every 3 months especially back in between 2017-2021. Well, you know, Chinese people are one of the biggest players in the crypto market today. So China government failed to do it also.
Why governments don't want crypto that much?
There are people saying it is to protect users. Some say it is to prevent illegal activites like drug dealing, arms smuggling because crypto is used in such transactions. Like they're forgetting also USD, EUR, YUAN, RUBLE are used for such things. But nobody is banning them right?
It's about control. They clearly don't want something they can't interfere, they can't manage.
Some governments put taxes for crypto and most realized they can't do much about it. It's peoples will.
PROS - CONS
If we tackle this question with +'s and -'s, we could say as pros, it will be safer and easier to use probably. If it's regulated, we will find respondent for our problems most of the time. Maybe there will be some lesser fraud (debatable) and that's all.
Cons, we will give governments one of our few left private spots. They will be more involved than before to what we are doing. This is totally against blockchain and cryptocurrency. Leaving no privacy. And this is something we stick onto. I see this the way that Marlon Brando does:
"Privacy is not something that i'm entitled to, it's an absolute prerequisite."
In conclusion, yes, I think crypto is not so safe or a bit insecure, open to attacks but maybe it is the exact way it should be: Unsafe and Unregulated
