BIn El Salvador, Bitaxe Introduces Mini ASIC Miners: A Step Towards Decentralized Bitcoin Mining

  • Bitaxe micro ASICs are sold by the Bitcoin Hardware Store in El Zonte to support decentralized Bitcoin mining in El Salvador.
  • Bitaxe Supra costs roughly $5 per month and has a hash rate of 750 GH/s while consuming 18 watts of power.

Bitaxe's tiny mining machines are now being sold in El Salvador at the Bitcoin Hardware Store at El Zonte, also called Bitcoin Beach. The goal of these tiny ASICs is to encourage decentralized Bitcoin mining in the nation of Central America. The business, which specialized in offering resources for bitcoin self-custody, made this announcement.
These little devices that fit in one hand are currently for sale, said Ronnie Avendaño, co-founder and CEO of Bitcoin Hardware Store. With a hash rate of 750 GH/s, the gadget is called the Bitaxe Supra and only uses 18 watts of power. This implies that it would only cost roughly $5 per month to operate these devices in El Salvador, making small-scale Bitcoin mining possible.
Avendaño characterized these miners as akin to a “lottery ticket that gets drawn every 10 minutes” and as instruments for decentralizing the Bitcoin network, despite their lower hashing power in comparison to the most recent big ASICs, which claim speeds exceeding 200 TH/s. In contrast to large-scale operations like those run by companies like Riot Blockchain and Marathon Digital, which contribute to the centralization of mining activities, he pointed out that mining from home is no longer profitable.
Bitaxe's miners are too small to participate in large mining pools like Luxor, Foundry USA, and F2Pool. It is difficult for them to mine a transaction block due to their low hash rate. This restriction does not, however, negate community interest. Many aficionados reportedly want to buy one or two of these miners so they may participate in decentralized mining at home, according to Bitcoin Hardware Store.

These little ASICs are also prized as teaching resources.

In comparison to the larger, more recently announced ASICs, they enable consumers to learn about Bitcoin mining using more affordable and easily available hardware. Through its store, Bitaxe hopes to distribute one million of these tiny mining equipment, which cost less than $250 apiece. With the use of this tactic, Bitcoin Hardware Store may be able to distribute millions of units, promoting Bitcoin involvement and education on a larger scale.
