Genesis of Ethereum: Journey from Vitalik Buterin’s Vision to the Ethereum Foundation

Ethereum is an open-source blockchain platform that holds a significant position in the world of cryptocurrency. The foundation of Ethereum is based on a project initiated by Vitalik Buterin, a young programmer and entrepreneur, in 2013 to address certain shortcomings within the Bitcoin community.
Buterin aimed to overcome the limitations of Bitcoin and create a platform for a broader range of applications. To achieve this, he formed a team and established the Ethereum Foundation in 2014, headquartered in Switzerland.
The primary objective of Ethereum was to support programmable functionality known as smart contracts. Smart contracts are code-based agreement systems that automatically execute when predefined conditions are met. This capability allows Ethereum not only to function as a cryptocurrency but also to host and facilitate the development of various applications.
Ethereum uses its own cryptocurrency called Ether (ETH). Ether is utilized as a reward for securing transactions on the platform and granting developers the right to use the Ethereum platform.
Over the years, Ethereum has undergone several development and upgrade stages. The most notable of these is the “Frontier” stage in 2015, marking the launch of Ethereum’s mainnet. Subsequent stages, including Homestead, Metropolis, and Serenity, have further enhanced and developed the platform.
As an open-source project, Ethereum receives support from numerous developers and participants worldwide. The platform plays a crucial role in the crypto world by hosting various financial applications, decentralized finance (DeFi) projects, games, tokens, and a wide array of applications.
