Find yourself and you may find gold

I don’t believe that you understand the potential that you have inside of you. And I know this because as an overthinker (and not in a good way), I often find myself thinking about not being good enough for a big chunk of my time. But that’s okay because that just means I have more reasons to improve. And if there is a key point that you should take from this text, is probably this one - You are good enough, you just don't know it yet. (Since I've spoiled it for you, you don't have to continue reading).

Amid the podcast fever we are living in, I had the pleasure to re-visit an old speech from Inky Johnson, and honestly, it is music to my soul, and my spin shivers every time I listen to this speech. Why? Because every time I feel down or not in my A-game, I know that I have someone inside, who can always push further - Eye of the Tiger starts playing in the background - and that is not Mr. Inky Johnson… that it’s me (shockers).

Like many go-getters out there, I believe that grinding is the most important “skill” that you can possess, and I call it a skill because not everyone has a grinding mentality. Is not an easy skill to develop, and most of the time you will fail, but it’s all part of the process. Matter of fact if you are failing at this you are already succeeding, because one can only assume that you started taking the steps toward change.

And listen, don’t believe all the hype BS that social media is throwing your way. You don’t have to, and most certainly you will not be at your best 100% of the time. You probably won’t be at your best 20%, but that’s okay because to find gold you don’t have to dig 100% of the Earth, not even close. Basically what matters is where you dig, not the surface you cover. But you will have to dig deep and keep pushing. If something does not go your way, it’s all good!

Take a breather, assess the situation, allow your emotions to guide you, and get right back at digging. You will find someone inside, that you never knew existed, and the beauty of all of this, is that this won’t be revealed until much later! My friend…you have it in you, just keep going until this is revealed to you.
