Kanu must not die while being imprisoned, Ozekhome writes to Buhari
Nnamdi Kanu's legal representative, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), has pleaded with President Major General Muhammadu Buhari (ret.) to promptly release Kanu from custody through a "political solution."
The attorney pleaded with Buhari in a petition dated October 3, 2022 to ask the Attorney General of the Federation to use his authority under Section 174 of the 1999 Constitution to issue a "nolle prosequi" and order Kanu's immediate release.
He claims that the appeal is intended to provide Buhari the opportunity to put an end to the long-standing injustice of Kanu's continuing confinement by the Nigerian government in inhumane and degrading circumstances.
He mentioned that Kanu is currently under trial at the Federal High Court for a variety of offenses, for which he had been given bail. Until the Nigerian Army attacked him, Kanu had been abiding by the bail's terms and restrictions.
