Strength vs Athletics

Both, duh?
Kidding, both for sure but in my opinion which is better? I would say athletics just purely for the sake of being objectively healthier overall. Being athletic means you would have a very good cardiovascular system, a stronger heart and better flow of oxygen around the body. Being strong doesn't necessarily mean you have any of these but it does mean you well, have strength!
Here's the benefits of both:
Athletics:
- Improved physical health through cardiovascular health and endurance
- Weight management
- Reduces the risk of chronic diseases
- Mental wellbeing due to the release of endorphins which additionally aids in stress and anxiety
- Better cognitive function
- Improved quality of sleep and aids with regulated sleeping patterns
- Better endurance and stamina
Strength
- Improved physical performance
- Injury prevention from having stronger joints and tendons
- Enhanced metabolism due to muscle being more metabolically than fat
- Better bone density/health
- Functional independence
- Posture and body alignment due to strength in the core and back
- Longevity and aging
Both at the same time is definitely the ideal, but if you had to go with one or the other which would you choose?
