Introducing Lava Points: Magma

Introduction

Lava Network is excited to announce that we have raised $15m in our seed round, backing our vision to build the modular data access layer for Web3.

While Celestia and Dymension focus on Data Availability, Settlement and Consensus, rollups will also need an Access layer. This is what Lava has built - allowing developers and users to send and retrieve data from any blockchain.

Blockchains and infrastructure can be extremely technical. But we've designed Lava so that everyday users don't need to run nodes to participate and help scale crypto.

Anyone can now earn points by changing your wallet’s blockchain connection to Lava and using your wallet as normal. Access web3 through Lava.

Overview:

Lava is a modular data network that aims to provide scalable access to any blockchain, through any API.

  • Champions permissionlessly add in-demand APIs and chains to Lava as modules
  • Node operator join Lava to serve these modules
  • The protocol optimizes performance by routing requests to the best available node providers
  • Wallet users and app builders plug into Lava for fast, multi-chain blockchain connections.

How to start earning points:

Just by changing your wallet connection you earn points. This can include anything from as simple as checking your wallet balance (which requires your wallet to make an RPC call behind the scenes) to making transactions. Use web3 like normal, earn points.

We are initially offering points for wallet users across NEAR, Ethereum, Evmos, Axelar and Starknet (coming soon). We are prioritizing blockchains and rollups that are using Lava to scale their infrastructure with Incentivized Public RPC.

Follow these steps to sign-in to the dashboard and earn points:

How to swap your wallet’s blockchain connection:

Connect to blockchains through Lava to start earning points - it's simple. Every time you open or use your wallet e.g. by checking your balance, making transactions, interacting with dapps - your wallet is making an RPC call.

All you need to do is replace the RPC URL in your wallet with the RPC provided in your Lava points account.

We have created step by step tutorials for how to change your connection to Lava on NEAR, Ethereum, Evmos, Axelar and Starknet (coming soon):

Here is an example for Metamask and Evmos.

  • Open your wallet, go to settings → Network

  • Let’s take Evmos as an example here. Select evmos

  • Replace “New RPC URL” with the relevant RPC link provided in our points dashboard.
  • Click Save in your wallet and you’re all set to earn points.

Referrals, bonus and retrospective points:

Referrals

Users can earn points through referrals. You will earn 10% of all points earned by users that you refer. This is not deducted from their points

e.g.

You refer User A.
User A earns 1000 points weekly.
You will earn 100 extra points weekly and User A's total will not be affected

Wallet partners

  • Anyone who uses Lava through one of our Wallet Partners will earn bonus points - you must sign up with their invite codes (distributed on their channels). We are initially partnering with Sender Wallet on NEAR with more to come

Retrospective points

  • We have noted down all testnet participants e.g. RPC providers and plan to offer retrospective points for their contribution to Lava up to now.

In the future:

Lava is a unified platform bringing together data providers across any chain and any service: RPC, indexing, oracles, MEV APIs, sequencers etc.

Access to blockchain data is critical and anyone can contribute to the Lava layer to help scale web3. Points may eventually be used to measure contributions across:

App developers:

  • Create a project on Lava
  • Make RPC or subgraph requests through Lava

Delegators

  • Delegate to Providers, helping the network select the best providers
  • Delegate to Validators, helping secure the Lava blockchain

Spec Champions

  • Add new modules so Lava can serve oracles, sequencers and any type of data service
  • Maintain modules by keeping on top of latest updates to RPC and APIs across chains
  • Submit specs for DAO approval on-chain

Data providers:

  • Run a node on Lava
  • Serve data through Lava
  • Serve a diverse set of chains

FAQs

Where can I see my points?

Head to points.lavanet.xyz.

What is Lava?

Lava is the modular data access network for scaling access to any blockchain.

Anyone can add in-demand chains and APIs as modules to Lava, with each module being served by a network of node operators competing to offer the best service. RPC is the first service supported by the protocol and already helps developers unlock innovation across 30+ chains.

By leveraging modular architecture and a peer-to-peer network of node operators, Lava powers the universal and performant infrastructure layer for developers to build whatever, wherever.

When is mainnet?

2024 H1

What do points represent?

Points provide a quantitative answer to the question of how much a user has contributed to the Lava ecosystem’s success.

What chains is Lava on?

30+ chains, visible here: docs.lavanet.xyz/chains

Do actions on all chains earn me points?

Initially, only activities on NEAR, Ethereum, Evmos, Axelar and Starknet (coming soon) will accrue points. We are prioritizing blockchains and rollups that are using Lava to scale their infrastructure with Incentivized Public RPC.

Keep up with the latest on Lava Network

Mainnet is coming in early 2024, bringing us closer to Lava's vision of a scalable, modular data layer for web3. We welcome all feedback and participation to help battle-test the network.

Thank you for taking part in the Lava journey.
