Antony hasn't shown big potential
Ten Hag says Antony has not impressed as Man Utd manager and gives chance to Amad Diallo and Omari Forson to replace £85m winger in the team.
The manager from the Netherlands, who coached Antony at Ajax before, has admitted that the Brazilian is having a hard time meeting the standards at Old Trafford. Antony, who was bought by United for £85 million ($108m) in 2022, has also been told that he could lose his place to Amad Diallo and Omari Forson, who are 19 years old, in United’s forward line.
Ten Hag told the media that Antony needs to show what he can do. He said he has a lot of potential, but he hasn’t been playing well recently. He said he knows how good Antony is, and he needs to demonstrate his ability. He said it’s up to him. He said he will likely get some chances, but that was always the plan.
He said there is competition, and Antony has to impress on the training ground, as well as others, because they have alternatives. He said Diallo is back from an injury and doing well in training. He said Forson is doing well too. He said they have choices for those roles. He said Rashford doesn’t have to be the striker.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Amad and Forson have only played one Premier League game each this season. Amad, who used to play for Sunderland, featured against Norwich City in December, while Forson made his first league appearance against Wolves this month. Antony, who plays for Brazil, has been struggling to score this season, with only one goal in 25 games in all competitions. He might play on Saturday when the Red Devils face Fulham in the league.
