As oppose to what I’ve written in 7 Untold Reasons why you need to Publish more writings, I must include this as its counter part.
7 Untold Reasons Why Writers must Publish More Writings
You can’t have pros without cons. Yin without its Yang. The balance that has been keeping our universe together. Can’t have that. And that is enough of a reason why “write more” advice has its own downside that if you are not aware of, may pull you back as a writer of any level.
In fact there isn’t substantial downside of writing more and its the only way for every writers that exist to earn.
But there are some things that you need to keep in mind. And there are actually 4 that is glaringly obvious.
Before we get into the 4 reasons, you need to be aware there is a distinction in between;
Write more.
Keep writing.
The first is an act of squeezing in as many content as you can, while the later is to squeeze in content even if you don’t have any idea what to create.
The first is an act going against time, while the later is an act to go through it.
So without further adieu.
The downside of “Write more”:

The quality of your writings are reduced. Ah, the most popular debate of Quality Versus Quantity. Goliath versus Timmy. The Darkside versus the Light.
We have to start with this first. As this is to be expected.
The more you write in short time period, the more susceptible you are to making error. As you write fast, skimming through fast, editing your writing fast — you tend to oversee a few grammatical errors, skipping on improving structure, ignoring words replacements and spelling.

You get burn out quickly.
The good ol burning out — a simple eloquent phrase to describe the fact that you got bored, gave up because it is hard, and found another shiny thing to do.
Burning out is the best explanation why you quit because it is a good way to counter your friends and family before they say “We told you it wouldn’t work out”.
I get it though, I understand the feeling. The feeling creeped in when the go gets freaking hard. Everyone gets it, even when doing something they love.
You have no other option, but to pace yourself.

You’ll run out of ideas quickly too.
Look, almost no beginner could constantly come out with good ideas of what to write.
There are some good advice that teaches you how to generate ideas for your writing. One of the method of countering this drawback is to utilize A.I to come up with some ideas. Of course what you write has nothing to do with what you want to write in the first place. Will you let the A.I determine what you write?
Instead of using A.I, you could practice writing in series. Breakdown your writing into chunks and publish them separately. Like I did with this writing. The first one being “7 Untold Reasons Why Writers must Publish More Writings” and the second one “4 Hidden Reasons Why “Write More” Advice Is Holding You Back As A Beginner Writer”.

You might appear spammy in some writing platforms.
Now this one is a big bummer to be honest. If you are being deemed “spammy” then the consequences that your writing account will be shadow-banned, or worst, permanently banned.
This may be the worst case scenario although in practice this seem rarely happened. I do come across some people who complained that their writings are getting less read. Perhaps you are not giving your reader time to digest what they read few hours ago.
Or the community find that you are being spammy, and avoid you altogether.
Pacing is not just for yourself, but pacing works both ways.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
As a beginner myself, I believe that the only way to acquire substantial improvement to my writings, is, well, to write more. To be exact, is to keep writing.
What people tend to ignore is the fact that compounding effect works in a non linear line. It tends to spike up towards the end.
Writing, and any learning other skills tend to work the same. People who has achieved greatness are the same people who stick to their craft.
Never give up on something that you can’t go a day without thinking about — Winston Churchill
Personally, I think to “Keep Writing” means to keep on writing, day in and day out, even if no one is reading what you writing. Keep writing is the equivalent of Don’t give up, Chin up, and keep it up.
Its easy to find the bad in between the things you do and overlook the good that may come out of it.
This phrase is what I used to hear as a kid. “If you are not sick, don’t go looking for one”. Because in the end, whatever you are doing, looking for the bad might become the final straw to your journey. Be as it may, it is also stupid to not be aware of it.
Finding balance in what you do is key.
