Happy Sunday: From Dawn to Dusk
Happy Sunday: From Dawn to Dusk
Sundays always have a unique pasterns compared to other busy week days. Today being Sunday was no exception. I woke up at about 6 a.m., just when the first light of dawn was creeping in, and the morning dew felt cold. Sundays are days of rest and self-realization to some lot of people. However, to me, it has another different meaning of duty and responsibility, starting with getting up and getting ready for the church service.
I slipped out from under the covers with the family still asleep and tried not to bother them. Stepping outside into the cool morning to clean the car. The car had accumulated some dew over the night, so I wanted to make sure that this was done early enough to get the family up and ready for church. I washed and wiped slowly to ensure everything was in order. After the car had been sparkling clean, I was satisfied that one task was completed.
By the time I finished, it was time to wake the family. The clock was ticking toward 8 a.m., which was the time of the prayer meeting at the church. Despite the rush to get everyone dressed and into the car, we ended up behind schedule. As the time passes on, the urgency became intense, but there is just something about some mornings that make them slip through your fingers. Eventually, we left the house, of course not without wasting some time. Upon arrival at the church parking lot, we were twenty minutes late. The prayer meeting was already on, and i could only hope that we had not missed much.
The prayer meeting goes on until 9 a.m. It is the most spiritual part of the service and sets the tone for the rest of the day. We walked to our seats and joined other members in the prayers. It was a moment of collective supplication, a time to open our hearts before God. The mood was heavy with faith and expectation, with voices raised in unity for guidance, strength, favour, success and blessings. Of course i prayed passionately for the success of BULB, asking for divine intervention and guidance.
The prayer meeting was concluded at 9 a.m and the Bible study session commenced immediately. This part of the service is always enriching and educating because it is an opportunity to get into the scriptures and try to understand and reflect on God's word. The Bible study session went well, as everyone was participating in the discussion. It is always an educating experience, one that leaves you with a lot to think about.
The main church service commenced at 10 a.m. This is the core of our the Sunday worship, where we praised and worship God with all our hearts. Hymns were sang, voices were raised in praises, and spirits were lifted and rejuvenated. It was in this session that we were encouraged, and at the same time admonished to keep us grounded and focused on our spiritual journey. We laid our burdens and wishes before God, trusting for His answer to our prayers. The service was a filled with emotions, joy, reflection, and hope. The pastor’s sermon was particularly inspiring, touching on themes of perseverance and faith, which resonated deeply with me.
The service came to a close at 1 p.m., As we made our way out of the church, we exchanged greetings and pleasantries with fellow members. Feeling that sense of warmth and belonging after a church service.
It was 2 p.m. by the time we returned home. Lunch was hastily prepared and served. After lunch, feeling the tiredness of the day finally catching up with me, i slept off.
I woke up at about 5 p.m, refreshed and ready to get on with planning of the week ahead. I used the rest of the evening planning to make sure that everything would be in order for the next day's work. It had been a very long day, but it was that kind of day that left me with peace and a feeling of satisfaction.
As the sun set at the end of the day, i thought of how Sundays always work magically on me, drawing me back down to earth and to things that really have meaning in my life, faith, family, and simple pleasures.
HAPPY SUNDAY TO YOU
