*Before you continue reading, I want you to know that this is a post I created in Medium for my readers over there. I feel like sharing it here*

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Another web3 story, pfft. Shocking.

But humor me this;

Have you ever felt stuck, wondering if you could earn more from doing what you love, writing?

I know you do, but don’t fret, you are not alone my friend.

In fact, there are many writers, especially the beginners who wished to earn as quickly as possible from writing. We can only watch other people show their earnings in awe.

Hoping that we too can achieve the same.

The world of internet is moving forward at a fast pace that our grandparents just got the hang of using Facebook, now there’s Web3! Who knows how fast innovation can go, but I know that most people are lacking behind.

There will be more Web3 blogging platform to be invented in near future, and as its consequences, more people will be left behind. This is why I’m writing this piece. To sell you the idea of how easy it is to start your web3 blogging journey.

Well, you just have to buy into the idea, and start for free. I’m not kidding.

Thinking to myself in the past, why people brush this idea off as if the idea of Web3 is such a conspiracy of an idea that could rival flat earth theory.

People would avoid using web3 thinking its all a scam and complex to use. Have you tried any before thinking that? Or you just hear people says that.

Web3 does not exist to disrupt web2, but simply to supplement it. In my head: That’s more choice and alternatives! More is better, no?

Well, writing in multiple platforms in Web3 help me add on my earnings substantially.

Using Web2 is wonderful and you can earn from your effort. But using both Web2 and Web3 could potentially double your earnings. The entire process of signing up does not take more than 5 minutes to complete and you can start to write.

This is all about writing. Crypto or the moral of Web2 has nothing to do with it. And its all about increasing your earnings at the same time.

If you have been living under the rock, Web3 provides you with the least resistance path to start earning online.

Soon, Web2 users of the internet will be as similar to our grandparents trying to use smartphones. Late to the game, and had to start with zero knowledge. Nothing more depressing than trying a technology that you can’t wrap around your head for the first time.

I know how it feels to be betrayed by a single platform that I stayed loyal to. Imagine being kicked out by your landlord without warning.

Personally, I would want to save myself from that impending doom. Having multiple platforms to share my writings, is no longer an option. I imagine if Youtube has viable competitors, then won’t they will think twice about mistreating their loyal content creators wouldn’t they?

I mean, nothing beats your earning in Medium doesn’t it? If you are a beginner just like me, earning 2 dollar a month is not something to be scuffed at. Soon enough, you will be earning twice the number and it will keep going up! But the whole ordeal could potentially take you months and even years.

Not to mention if the rules change, it could affect the trajectory for better and for worst.

That is why some prolific writers in Medium suggested you to create your own product and sell them at Gumroad. Or maybe start a new account in Substack to start collecting email and send them your newsletter. Because they know the earnings on Medium isn’t sufficient enough to earn you a living.

Some do earn a living, but the amount of who does, are much less than my fingers can count.

Whatever it is, the objective is clear — to earn more.

You know you want to earn more from your writing. It is no wonder people who write about writing tips are getting a lot of attention in Medium, they vouch for good writing, to get reads and earnings.

I also know you have been following many Medium writers who writes about starting a side hustle. Which none of them truly work. To be honest, some of the case studies are rare cases that they are pretty much the outliers who are able to earn from their side hustles outside of Medium.

The reality is it is hard, writing is hard, earning is hard. Web3 will help alleviate that burden a little, as it did for my own journey.

If I don’t know any better, Web3 sounds like something someone just whipped out from their underpants “Voila!, it’s new and shiny!”

In reality, there are no significant difference in between Web2 and Web3. Apart from the existence of cryptocurrency.

Let me give you an example;

If you post on Medium and somehow you managed got a read or two for that post, you will be earning some money on that post. The higher the read view from paying members, the higher your payment get.

On the contrary, if you post on Web3 Blogging site, you will get paid with crypto. You can then transfer the crypto token to my web3 e-wallet, or swap it to money. Some Web3 blogging platforms will also allow you to spend those earned tokens for in platform items, like energy, NFT (Non fungible tokens), and etc.

You write, get some reader, and earn. Similar isn’t it?

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Before Medium, I exclusively write on Web3 Blogging platforms.

The entry level were low, and everyone can join. Anyone from around the world can.

At the start, I wasn’t hoping for much as I only look forward to improve my skills as a writer. My earnings were around 20 dollar per platform per month. Then it increase to 50 dollar per month.

Having writing in multiple web3 platforms, my earning almost reach 500 dollar per month in total. I know that isn’t much but that is more than 80% of typical job’s earning in my country.

Since 2020, I have earn over 10,000 USD in total out of around 200 writings (combination of long and short form content) I produced till today. As a beginner myself, I think that is not bad at all.

On good month, I will earn more, while in bad I earn a lot less. The fluctuation has a lot to do with the price of crypto. But, if you hold on to your tokens, you might see a good upswing in your earnings. Of course if you are not willing to take the risk, you can sell your token as soon as it dropped into your e-wallet.

Currently, my Medium account does not produce substantial amount of earning. This is to be expected, it is a process, and I am relatively new here with less than 2 months old account with 17 article written so far. Writing 100 piece here will take another 3 months, or maybe more before I see things start picking up.

Meanwhile that, I will be cross posting my work across web3 blogging platforms to maximize my earnings. I know I could earn more from my writing by doing cross posting, but there wasn’t any platform viable for me to start as a beginner in Web2.

As many beginner, I try to avoid doing advance stuff like collecting email, doing Newsletter, writing books because of the lack of experience and know how. That is something that I would plan for in the future.

Just like everybody else, I was trying to increase my earning from my writing.

The simpler solution is to look for alternative writing platform that allows me just to write and earn. In web3.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . .

A friend whom I got acquittanced with in a Socialfi (Social finance) platform introduced Bulb to me. It is a Web3 Blogging platform that is built on top of Solana protocol. The reason why it picked my interest is primarily because of the blockchain it is built on making it responsive and the transaction fees are fractions of a cent.

Before we go deeper, what has Bulb given me?, and what it can potentially provides you with;
Honestly, Bulb has given me a platform where I can write freely about any topics I want, while earning regardless of me having a reader or not. Sounds good? Then continue reading to know how that can be achieved.

At first it was more of me interacting with other writer’s content. Some of the writings are crypto eccentric in nature, while some writes what web2 writers write, topics about everyday thing in life.

Bulb pays you to read, write, comment. Basically it is “Do to earn” and as the name suggest, you’ll get some points of doing activities in Bulb within the constraint of your available energy.

Energy System in Bulb

The more you interact with the platform (writing, comment, report malicious content, liking, disliking and etc), the more points you’ll get, the more share of the reward pool you’ll get. How much you’ll get will be transparent.

But this is where it’s interesting, you’ll earn no matter if you have a reader or not to your writing. And what supports beginners better than the ability to earn, while improving your writing skills?

The most points are given if you do writings and commenting as it is a web3 Blogging platform after all.

You could also stake your weekly earnings and in return, get more tokens for it. Staking your tokens will increase the daily activity points multiplier, so, with more points towards the end of week, more tokens share you will get.

The platform still undergo updates and upgrades so there will be more feature to be added into the platform. Its latest update is the thread function, where you can write short form content to share your thoughts and links to your products and whatnot.

At its current form, the content creation UI is simple and easy to use.

For almost a year now, Bulb has become a valuable addition to my writing journey. I love to write, and I love being rewarded for my work.

The platform allows almost all types of niche and topic, including A.I except for stolen content, NSFW, and anything that breach the platform policy. Aside from the rules, the platform’s leniency allows its content creators to be creative.

Bulb adopts all Web3 ethos and that includes helping authors to retain their content ownership. What this simply mean is that you are able to monetize your own content however you wish, while the platform owners are not allowed to do anything they please with your content.

In stark contrast, Web2 will delete or monetize your data and content without your consent. Leading to a lot of mistrust when handling sensitive data of yours. Web3, however, being decentralized, allow for your data and privacy kept private and to yourself and whomever you wish to share it with. Personally, I think that’s a plus — especially if you are a digital nomad.

Bulb, among its competitors is ranked higher in web searches, making your writings are searchable in google.

Bottom Line

To be honest, more people will adopt web3 as a viable space to share their contents and getting used to how different platform rewards their users is a plus towards familiarity.

People thought internet was a hoax, isn’t it the same with web3?

So many were wrong and looked idiotic.

With multiple blogging site, I can finally able to increase my earnings with potentially writing one article, spread across multiple platforms. Aside from maximizing my earnings for my work, I could potentially reach more people and preach to them about my idea.

Isn’t that is why we write in the first place? To find like minded people to connect with? To change the world with our words?

I’ve added Bulb into one of the platform I write in, and my earnings will certainly increase from where it was. With one article, spread across multiple blogging platform. Why make life harder, when it gave you so much choice in life?

Plus, there is no harm in trying new stuff. If it doesn’t work for you, or it does not suit your taste, just delete the account and move on. Its web3 after all, you have all the control on your data and privacy.

On ward, to a better and brighter future.

Care to join me in Web3 revolution?
