Slavery

In shadows deep, a tale untold,
Of slavery's grip, a story unfolds.
Bound by chains, hearts filled with pain,
Humanity shackled, freedom waned.

Across the land, their spirits crushed,
Torn from homelands, hopes were hushed.
Fields of toil, where sweat would fall,
Silent cries echoed, a haunting call.

Men, women, children, stripped of worth,
Forced to labor upon bloodied earth.
Their souls cried out for liberty's embrace,
As time pressed on, leaving scars to trace.

Yet in the darkness, a flicker remained,
Resistance kindled, courage unrestrained.
The flame of hope burned in their eyes,
United voices, seeking sunlit skies.

From whispered dreams to daring escape,
A quest for justice, they did reshape.
Through underground trails, they found their way,
Seeking freedom's light, with each passing day.

The abolitionists, their voices rose,
Championing justice, confronting those
Who perpetuated this cruel trade,
Demanding an end, a debt to be paid.

Finally, the chains began to break,
Emancipation's dawn, a path to take.
Though scars still linger, a nation wept,
Acknowledging the pain, long overdue accept.

Let this poem stand as a solemn plea,
To remember the struggle, the legacy.
From the depths of history, a stark reflection,
May we never forget, fight against oppression.
