Iwobi wants to score again against the Magpies.
When Everton travels to Tyneside to play Newcastle United in a crucial match at St. James's Park on Wednesday (today), Alex Iwobi will want to match his Premier League goals total from last season, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
The Nigerian midfielder had two goals last year and one this year in the Toffees' 2-1 home loss to Manchester United.
The Toffees have only triumphed over Newcastle twice in the previous eight encounters, but they were able to earn all three points from their most recent encounter, a narrow 1-0 victory at home in March thanks to a thrilling 99th-minute goal from Iwobi.
Iwobi acknowledged that he has to score more goals to help his side win games in his pregame interview.
I believe I’ve done okay so far, but I wish I could get more goals,” Iwobi told BT Sports.
Goals win games and I’ve had few chances, but overall, I’m pleased with my performances.
I score those in training, and I get asked why I don’t do it often during games, but I don’t know. It comes out when it does.
The Magpies are now ranked sixth in the table, while the Toffees are eight spots and five points further back in 14th after dropping their past two games. Both clubs are looking to go back to winning ways.
