The relevancy of Crypto in the current time.

How important is crypto in today's civilization? Or more accurate question is, how relevant crypto is in today's civilization?. The answer to the first question is of course a big "Yes", while the second one is more subjective. For example, when we trade for goods, we usually use our country's currency. While in some countries crypto is not acceptable as payment option. The real reason is because crypto is volatile in price:- I would be receiving 1 dollar today as payment, but that 1 dollar could quickly dump to 1 cent as an example. Making most merchant stayed away from crypto. To be quite honest, as they should have.

Now, the relevancy of crypto these days can be seen, or could only be seen as relevant as a type of investment vehicle. Being the most risky investment there is in the market, in comparison to other type of investment in traditional finance. Let's not talk about NFT investment for now. The big question is "Will crypto ever be stable in the future?". No one knows for certain. If someone predicted it, it will be more of a scenario of "guessing in the dark" and those are as only good as any gambling. I digress.

For young people, crypto investment is a must in my personal view. The reason being is because crypto is the "THE" investment vehicle catered to our generation more so than to other generation ie:- the boomers and the generations before them. For these generation, tradfi such as S&P and other government 401K equivalent schemes has done them good and they are now peacefully retired and some are on their way too. As an example, in my country there are an investment scheme which would return 17% annually without fail. This was true until recent years (3 to 4 years now) it returns a miniscule amount of 5%. Not accounting for inflation rate of 3-4%. Making a return of 1-2% on top of your initial capital. In the next 20 years, the amount that is being compounded is negligible:- if there are any return anyway. But for the older generations, the rewards were reaped.

Personally for me, being born in the 80s, made me more of a hybrid investor. I love both traditional way of finance and also crypto. Namely gold and land (real estate). Of course we could argue that gold grows slowly, but I love the fact that gold retain my purchasing power throughout the years. How relevant is crypto for my portfolio though? I have to say that I do not like gambling. Heck I hate it so much. Because of that, I practice risk assessment to reduce the risk as the only way I could go about in investing to reduce the "gambling" factor for my investment. While being the most relevant investment to our generation, what else crypto are relevant to?

Strengthening cyber security

Our generation today has been crippled by the fear of getting hacked, cyber virus infection on our hardware mainly because we keep our valuables in computers and drives. The developers of cyber security will be dumb not to milk this niche for their profits. Since most crypto users are taking care of their assets diligently, most of them are tech and coding savvy. Making pathway to better platform for security in general. Although the same can be said in the hacking industry.

Enlisting fairness concept to the mass

Have you ever heard of the election's manifestos that said "Fairness to all", or anything remotely resembles that? The funny thing is that we never see that "fairness" being materialized. Fairness anyone? lol. Even votes are being scrutinized for being overly "fishy" sometimes. Seen those a lot of times. In crypto landscape however, every one who wishes to have any say in the projects they are involved with, they could vote as long as they chip in some investment. Although we can still argue that the more money you invest in that protocol, you could potentially swing the final decision your way. Nonetheless, the concept is out there and it is waiting to be perfected in someway in the future.

Introducing the concept of real freedom

Freedom is a state of mind. So they say. But there are no real freedom when you still need to slave away to fiat currency. Somewhere somehow, you will still need to provide some sort of "value" to others to get the mean to buy you food and pay your roof over your head. The reality is no one will ever to escape the grip of fiat currency game. The better "value" you provide at large, the more money will come your way. Should you stop providing that "value", you will stop getting that money.

You could however, use those hard earned money and invest them in stocks that could reward you with residue income so that you will never work anymore. The same concept can be found here in crypto through staking and airdrops. But it gets better, doing it right, you could invest a little of the money you get from those 9-5 jobs, earn lots of profit, turn your profit to staking protocols, and earn you those residue income. While in traditional finance platforms, you need to earn those through hard work, to get a comfortable 10% annually:- in the next 20 years. And be financially free in another 10 years. Just to die 5 years after. That sounded grim but that is most people's reality. Crypto provided the way out, or will provide you the way out if you do it right. That is how crypto became relevant today.

Frankly speaking, there are more industries where crypto is becoming more relevant in these days:-

  1. Heavy industries
  2. Social Media Landscapes
  3. Gaming
  4. Business Startup
  5. Sports and Bets industry
  6. Green technology

The list could go on to be honest. At 2024 and beyond, will crypto become more relevant? As the person who are invested in crypto, you have the right to care about it.
