My First Button Phone Story
Good Morning Bulb Family!
Greetings, everyone!
Introduction
Hey beautiful family! Have you seen my phone? I was looking for it. Oh, yes. Got it. It was under the pillow. Finally found it. I was almost about to call the LAPD. Jawad would have loved that, a real detective searching for the devil's phone. That would have been too much fun, but I found it now. How many times has this exact thing happened to you? We put our phones on silent mode and then forget where we left them. Then the game of hide and seek continues.
Speaking of phones, today's topic will be just that. But here's a little twist: I won't be talking about smartphones that rule the world today. Instead, I'll be talking about feature phones, the button phones that once ruled the communication world. 95% of us have used them.
When and how? That's the story. I'll tell my story and request someone else to share theirs. So, buckle up your shoes, we are on a journey.
Note: This article is also published on my read.cash account.
Now, I think it's time to delve into today's topic. But before I begin, if you haven't checked out my previous articles, I encourage you to do so.
Let's Visit to my Pet world
My First Button Phone Story
First, the heartbreaking news: my first button phone was stolen, so I can't provide a picture of it. Sorry about that. My journey of using telecommunication devices started in 2009. Before that, I used phones, but they weren't mine. We, the 90s kids, have witnessed the revolution of telecommunication with our own eyes. We've seen letter communication, fax communication, telegrams (the actual ones, not the app used on smartphones now), big telephones, cordless phones, feature phones, and now smartphones. We are the lucky generation. I am one of them.
I first became interested in phones when my parents used to talk to each other on the phone. My father was overseas, and my mother would take me with her to a phone booth to talk. A huge amount was spent then. As days passed, I grew up. Some of my friends started using mini button phones, and one day, I got my own.
Nokia 1208 - The First Phone
Nokia was the leading company producing the best quality phones. People were crazy about having a Nokia phone. Those ringtones were awesome; I can still hear them in my mind. I bought my first feature phone. It wasn't new. One of my cousins sold it to me. It was a second-hand product, but I was so happy with it, the Nokia 1208. Wow! That feeling was different. I immediately bought a SIM card, put it in the phone, and yes, I was at the peak of my joy. Finally, I had my own phone. A phone with a mini yellow display, black characters, and words, a mini torchlight in front, melodious ringtones, the ability to save up to 250 contacts, and most of all, those gaming facilities! Stop laughing, dear. You might be playing FIFA on Xbox or a computer with the internet, but we played FIFA on mini phones. The specifications were different, but the feelings were no less than yours.
Stolen From Home
My happiness lasted for a couple of months. One day, I was playing cricket. Our team was batting, and my name was fourth in the lineup. I was best in the middle order. Our team was batting well. The playground was just beside my home, so I decided to put my phone on charge at home. I went home and connected it to the charger. That was the last time I saw it. After winning the match, when I returned home, I found out that my phone was missing. Someone had taken my phone and wristwatch. I remember it clearly; I cried the whole day for it.
New Phone Arrived
After three months, a relative came from abroad and brought a gift for me: a brand new phone! Nokia C2-01. A colorful display with micro SD card facilities! My heart jumped with joy. Yes, this was the phone. I vowed not to let the same thing happen to this phone.
Now, I use two smartphones. They have more features. The smartphone revolution changed the world. Feature phones are going into retirement. The hype around new smartphones with even more facilities is growing daily. But nothing will match the craze of those days using button phones. For me, those are evergreen feelings.
